The combination of social, political, and economic changes causing simultaneously decreasing fund... more The combination of social, political, and economic changes causing simultaneously decreasing funding and increasing demand for services is driving nonprofit managers to engage in proactive marketing in a for-profit model, including the use of online media. This research extends the MARKOR model of market orientation to examine the relationship between market orientation practices, as reflected in the utilization of online media, and their effects on the financial viability of nonprofit organizations (NPOs).

This study recounts the findings from a year-long survey of Brooklyn residents. Survey respondent... more This study recounts the findings from a year-long survey of Brooklyn residents. Survey respondents were questioned about their knowledge of asthma signs, triggers, symptoms and their attitudes and beliefs about asthma. If they had asthma or were responsible for a child or adult who had asthma they were asked questions to determine how well that asthma was controlled. They were also questioned about their preferred sources of asthma information.

This study analyzes one component of the health care safety net to determine whether or not being... more This study analyzes one component of the health care safety net to determine whether or not being enrolled in a free or low-cost primary care physician access program subsequently affects emergency department utilization by uninsured adults ages 18 through 64. The study is a quantitative analysis of more than 40,000 individual patient records. An Intensity of Use Indicator (IUI) was developed for tracking individual and group ED utilization trends. the IUI should prove useful to hospital and other not-for-profit organizations concerned with tracking cost effectiveness of programs for uninsured adults.
