I’m posting something here so this journal won’t be purged for being “inactive”. Please do the same for any of your own favorite older communities/journals.

Hello everyone! I was not expecting to make any more posts to this community but I wanted to let everyone know of an exciting project that is going on right now and how it connects with us.
I was contacted a few months ago by an academic (she knows ithiliana, who gave her my name) who is working on a book about the connections between Tolkien and death and how readers have used his writings to help them work through these things. She learned of Lorie's situation and the book and the moot in Chicago and will be referencing it in her book. I expect there will be a link to this community provided in a footnote. As community owner, I have given permission. Additionally, I believe she will be referring to a story I wrote when Lorie died.
I'm not sure of her timeline, that is when we might expect to be able to read the book, though I know I can't wait. My own strong personal connection to Tolkien came about as I read LOTR for the first time in my teen years when my own mother was dying. I think I might have been waiting for this book to be written for many years :-)
Given that there will likely be a link to the community in the book, I wanted to give people a heads up in case they wanted to either remove posts from the community or friends lock them. Additionally, I will be emailing all the contributors to the book to give them the info since I know so many of them are no longer active on LJ or even in fandom. I expect quite a few of those emails will bounce back to me.
I'll post again when I know more. I can't even begin to express how bittersweet this is though I know you all understand that perfectly. ♥
ETA: This isn't completely related but FYI, hanarobi and I have tried to contact Rich to get his permission to post Lorie's stories on the AO3. Unfortunately we never received a response and don't feel it's appropriate to pursue though if anyone knows anything about his whereabouts (new email addy maybe?) we'd love to know.

The Collected Works of Laura Mason -- Seeking Proofreading Volunteers Hi everyone!
I know most of you are on my flist, but I wanted to make sure those who are not are aware of this project.
I'm working on publishing all of Lorie's fanfiction in a set of books to give her husband. Boy did she write a lot! Over 1,500 pages from my quick count.
I'm asking for volunteers to help with basic proofreading to make sure typos and missing periods and that sort of thing get caught and corrected. If you think you might be able to help, please let me know. More details can be found in these LJ posts:
http://baranduin.livejournal.com/986870.html
http://baranduin.livejournal.com/987334.html
Some people have asked me if the book(s) will be available for purchase. I don't know. If Rich says it's OK, then I'll make them available for purchase at production cost. If he's not comfortable with that, then I won't be able to.
Thank you again for your help with the For Lorie project. You all are the best.

For Lorie: Fic -- "Autumn Sunshine" Here is the second and final story of mine from the For Lorie book. Once again, thanks to the Three Stooges for having this great idea and organising it all; kudos to all the authors and artists involved; and my very best wishes to the lovely lorie945!
I am happy to announce that, in the f-locked version posted over here in my own LJ, Autumn Sunshine is accompanied by an exquisite piece of artwork titled Frodo Dreams, which some of you have doubtless already seen, by the irrepressible, the inimitable, the incomparable bandwench! To quote bandwench herself, it almost seems like she was channelling my fic when she was working on this stunning piece of artwork — because the imagery fits so very well with a certain scenario in my story! (Erm, *I* am the one saying that it's stunning!)

My ficlet Name: Catch
Fandom/MainCharacter: LOTR ~ Éomer
Rating: G
Betas: Many, many thanks go out to Hanarobi and Claudia for their fantastic betas! Even more thanks to whichever of the 3 Stooges put all those fiddly lines above the E in Eomer's name. (Notice I'm clearly incapable of doing it. Sorry about that!)
Summary: In the heady moments after the Fall of Sauron someone has to be practical.
Dedication: Dear Lorie, I’ve never written a LOTR story involving Men (crazy ever-lovin’ hobbits, yes, but not men) so I hope this meets with your approval. Get better, now, your friends have you!

Drabble: Waves of Emotion -- For Lorie What a tremendous idea the Three Stooges dreamed up — producing a wonderful multi-fandom book full of stories and artwork from many different talented authors and artists here in our community, in order to support the lovely lorie945 in her brave battle against illness! I feel privileged to have been a part of it all.
If my fairy godmother appeared tomorrow and granted me three wishes, I would ask to exchange those three wishes for her magic wand, so I could wave it any time and instantly make everyone's hopes and dearest wishes come true! *waves at Lorie*
Note to all "For Lorie" contributors: My RL is going crazy at the moment, but I *will* be starting to go through your work very soon — I'd be glad if you can bear with me in the meantime!
