Purpose-This study aims to develop and evaluate TYFIREQUAKE virtual reality simulation of fire, e... more Purpose-This study aims to develop and evaluate TYFIREQUAKE virtual reality simulation of fire, earthquake, and typhoon scenarios using Virtual Reality (VR) as an alternative training tool and application for increasing the level of disaster preparedness to be able to apply the safety and precautionary measures in emergencies. Methodology-The proponents applied the Rapid Application Development (RAD) model as a software development model and followed the different phases such as outlining the requirements, user designs and input, constructions, and finalization of the software. The study incorporates different software for creating virtual environments, layout designs of scenarios, characters, controllers, interactive elements, and AI non-player characters. The system developed the desired output and functionalities like presenting the Before, During, and After scenarios of each disaster with time monitoring and assessment 1386 Results-Moreover, it was evaluated using test cases such as functionality case testing, sharing test, installation, and load test, portability test, performance test, and system test wherein the system Passed all tests. In this study, the design for simulated training on the disaster was discovered to be capable of exposing a person to a disastrous environment without endangering the person immersed in the condition. Conclusions-This virtual training program for earthquakes, fire, typhoons, and tsunami/floods can be used without a cost or by spending a lot of money on deploying reallife trainers and equipment for physical drills. The results of this study suggest that a similar design for a larger community may be provided to local cities mandated by the government to propagate disaster awareness and emergency preparedness programs. Recommendations-It is suggested that the developed mobile application can be implemented in emergency response teams as a tool for disseminating awareness of disasters, especially to the children. Additional features that can provide feedback, a database as a repository of data and information for crafting more insightful ideas in generating activities on disaster prevention. Research Implications-The TYFIREQUAKE mobile application could be an effective training tool for equipping children with sufficient knowledge and skills in responding to typhoons, fires, and earthquakes. They can learn the proper strategies for coping with disasters specifically in identifying the possible safe places, maximizing the available resources, and action plans for recovery before, during, and after the disasters.

In addition to this, they are also in charge of enacting programs and policies for the general well-being of the citizens within the province. The general public may not be able to keep track of legislative performances since there is a growing number of legislative-generated documents. This study developed a system that integrated the application of topic modeling in crafting ordinances, resolutions, and policies for the Province of Laguna. Method-This research employed the SCRUM methodology process in the development of the system and Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modeling using R language to classify text within a document to a particular topic and created model through Observation-based evaluation and Quantitative metrics such as Perplexity and Coherence to determine k-value (number of topics) based on the corpus wherein it was collected in the Twitter and Legislative Management System Portal. Results-The results showed the LDA used returned the optimal value for perplexity and coherence which was determined by testing different k-values ranging from 1 to 2 which is presented to users as a line graph. The developed system provided a system module 1163 that can enable users to find the optimal number of topics (k value) and present the results in a visually appealing interface on the user's account portal which gives insights into what possible new ideas in formulation ordinances, resolutions, and policies in Laguna. Conclusion-The developed system in this study allows legislators of the province of Laguna to collect public posts from the social networking site Twitter and use Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modeling. It also provides an interactive graph that allows users to explore the LDA model generated by the system and helps to reveal topics of concern from the community that leads to government officials in formulating policies and ordinances appropriate for the needs of the community. Recommendations-It is recommended to develop an additional module that automatically generates the topic model based on the selected LDA evaluation procedure and should be tested in a larger-sized corpus to further test its capabilities as well as to improve the list of the stop words and noise removal feature. Implications-The system can be used to simply accomplish the document trail page where users can preview document details and the application of the visualization techniques in the system helps to facilitate the to provide an impression by extracting words, and topics that can be a basis of crafting programs and priorities of the government officials in taking actions to the citizen concerns.

Fire safety and prevention has always been a subject of concern in the Philippines, as fire incid... more Fire safety and prevention has always been a subject of concern in the Philippines, as fire incidents are a common cause of economic and ecological troubles every year. The aim of this study was to identify significant relationship of fire incidents in terms of location and time to build a model of fire risk forecasting in the capital city of Manila. A total of 3,506 fire incidents were recorded by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) during the six-year period from 2011 to 2016. The overall record are 3506 fire incidents included in the study which analyzed using the Pearson’s Chi-square statistical technique. The summer months February to May showed the utmost number of fire, and that most fire incidents occurred from 9 AM to 11 AM and from 6 PM to 10 PM. The highest number of fire incidents recorded happened in the densely-populated districts of Sampaloc and Tondo. The study shows that there are no significant relationship of location (space) to time and to day however in terms of location to month and year show highly significant. The findings of this study can prove useful to the BFP office in Manila, in that they need to look at recurring trends in fire incidents in terms of location and month to create programs aimed towards fire prevention awareness. This research can be extended to include other spatial factors such as weather conditions and geographical coordinates in the assessment of fire incidents.

Design/methodology/approach A spatiotemporal and statistical analysis was carried out to determine the pattern of fire incidents in the city of Manila. This system was integrated into a web portal where the BFP personnel can log and view fire incident reports, which are then evaluated and mined for marking fire “hot spots” on a customized map of the city, as well as for producing recommendations based on the risk level assessment of any location for a given date. Based on results of experimentation, the Decision Tree classifier model was selected, with 95.92% accuracy. Geocoding produced 92% output of geographical coordinates from address information in the data set. The system can help the fire agency in raising the fire risk awareness of the community country and in facilitating their fire risk reduction planning.

To assess the collected responses, descriptive statistics and Kruskal Wallis were utilized. Convenience sampling was used with 356 respondents, 34 of whom were witnesses to the abuse and 65 are the victims of abuse. Majority of witnesses to the abuse were women between 16 and 20 years old while the victims were between 16 and 30 years old. Emotional abuse is the most common type witnessed regardless of age, location, civil status, occupation, or educational attainment. While physical abuse is the most common type experienced by the victims, it is frequently perpetrated by their former husbands. The researchers applied K-means clustering approach and Elbow method using Python scikit-learn tool to process the fire incidents dataset and produce the number of clusters with centroid and correlation heatmap which resulted to five clusters. The most noticeable result is the "Day" attribute, Wednesday and Thursday, which are similar across all five clusters. In addition, most fire incidents occurred between 12:00 NN to 4:00 PM, around lunchtime and afternoon siesta. The result also shows that the poor are the most vulnerable likewise, the middle class. It concludes that government can reconsider its services on fire protection issues and fire disaster management. Data mining techniques applied to fire incident reports was limited in the Philippines. With this. more work should be carried out using prediction which can help in predicting the presence of a fire incident so that firefighter could immediately respond.

This study aims to analyze fire data in the City of Manila from 2011 to 2015 through spatio-temporal analysis. A total of 2,823 fire incidents were investigated and fires due to faulty electrical connections occurring from 4PM to 8PM emerged as the time with the most number of fires. Daily pattern does not show much variation although the monthly pattern shows that the summer months have higher number of fire occurrences compared with the rest of the months except for September, which had most number of recorded fires during the 5-year period. Further research direction can include determining the impact of socioeconomic and environmental factors in fire incidence likewise the utilization of geo-visualization techniques, prediction model and simulation as tools in improving fire service and management.

It also provides an interactive graph that allows users to explore the LDA model generated by the system and helps to reveal topics of concern from the community that leads to government officials in formulating policies and ordinances appropriate for the needs of the community. Recommendations-It is recommended to develop an additional module that automatically generates the topic model based on the selected LDA evaluation procedure and should be tested in a larger-sized corpus to further test its capabilities as well as to improve the list of the stop words and noise removal feature. Implications-The system can be used to simply accomplish the document trail page where users can preview document details and the application of the visualization techniques in the system helps to facilitate the to provide an impression by extracting words, and topics that can be a basis of crafting programs and priorities of the government officials in taking actions to the citizen concerns.

Fire safety and prevention has always been a subject of concern in the Philippines, as fire incid... more Fire safety and prevention has always been a subject of concern in the Philippines, as fire incidents are a common cause of economic and ecological troubles every year. The aim of this study was to identify significant relationship of fire incidents in terms of location and time to build a model of fire risk forecasting in the capital city of Manila. A total of 3,506 fire incidents were recorded by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) during the six-year period from 2011 to 2016. The overall record are 3506 fire incidents included in the study which analyzed using the Pearson’s Chi-square statistical technique. The summer months February to May showed the utmost number of fire, and that most fire incidents occurred from 9 AM to 11 AM and from 6 PM to 10 PM. The highest number of fire incidents recorded happened in the densely-populated districts of Sampaloc and Tondo. The study shows that there are no significant relationship of location (space) to time and to day however in terms of location to month and year show highly significant. The findings of this study can prove useful to the BFP office in Manila, in that they need to look at recurring trends in fire incidents in terms of location and month to create programs aimed towards fire prevention awareness. This research can be extended to include other spatial factors such as weather conditions and geographical coordinates in the assessment of fire incidents.

This system was integrated into a web portal where the BFP personnel can log and view fire incident reports, which are then evaluated and mined for marking fire “hot spots” on a customized map of the city, as well as for producing recommendations based on the risk level assessment of any location for a given date. Based on results of experimentation, the Decision Tree classifier model was selected, with 95.92% accuracy. Geocoding produced 92% output of geographical coordinates from address information in the data set. The system can help the fire agency in raising the fire risk awareness of the community country and in facilitating their fire risk reduction planning.

To assess the collected responses, descriptive statistics and Kruskal Wallis were utilized. Convenience sampling was used with 356 respondents, 34 of whom were witnesses to the abuse and 65 are the victims of abuse. Majority of witnesses to the abuse were women between 16 and 20 years old while the victims were between 16 and 30 years old. Emotional abuse is the most common type witnessed regardless of age, location, civil status, occupation, or educational attainment. While physical abuse is the most common type experienced by the victims, it is frequently perpetrated by their former husbands. The researchers applied K-means clustering approach and Elbow method using Python scikit-learn tool to process the fire incidents dataset and produce the number of clusters with centroid and correlation heatmap which resulted to five clusters. The most noticeable result is the "Day" attribute, Wednesday and Thursday, which are similar across all five clusters. In addition, most fire incidents occurred between 12:00 NN to 4:00 PM, around lunchtime and afternoon siesta. The result also shows that the poor are the most vulnerable likewise, the middle class. It concludes that government can reconsider its services on fire protection issues and fire disaster management. Data mining techniques applied to fire incident reports was limited in the Philippines. With this. more work should be carried out using prediction which can help in predicting the presence of a fire incident so that firefighter could immediately respond.

This study aims to analyze fire data in the City of Manila from 2011 to 2015 through spatio-temporal analysis. A total of 2,823 fire incidents were investigated and fires due to faulty electrical connections occurring from 4PM to 8PM emerged as the time with the most number of fires. Daily pattern does not show much variation although the monthly pattern shows that the summer months have higher number of fire occurrences compared with the rest of the months except for September, which had most number of recorded fires during the 5-year period.
