Diabetes has many reasons and can lead to severe complications. It has been proven that early diagnosis and effective monitoring and assistance can decrease the effect of this disease. Thus, this paper presents general diabetes system for patient's pre-diagnosis, monitoring and assistance. Client java graphical interfaces, in addition to a remote server, have been conceived for effective controlling and monitoring. The communication is based on encrypted JSON queries.

IEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society

Recently, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has been integrated into these systems to manage massive connectivity and achieve spectral-efficient communications. This paper focuses on angle-domain (AD) hybrid beamforming (BF) for mmWave LSAAs and NOMA systems, thanks to the low complexity, power consumption, and channel estimation overhead. However, with limited radio-frequency chains, the hybrid BF-based single-beam (SB)-NOMA scheme generating a single beam to serve the NOMA users fails to exploit the multiuser diversity due to narrow beams with LSAAs. To tackle this limitation, we design schemes offering additional degrees of freedom. More importantly, they require only the knowledge of angular information and are suitable for either linear or rectangular antenna arrays, unlike those proposed in the literature. The first scheme exploits the time-domain resources to schedule groups having high spatial interference within distinct time slots. To minimize the need for fast and precise synchronization when applying time division multiple access (TDMA) with mmWave NOMA, we leverage the multi-beam (MB)-NOMA framework. And we propose a joint SB-and MB-NOMA scheme to benefit from NOMA multiuser diversity, whatever the cell load and the users' positions. Using the New York University channel simulator (NYUSIM), we further validate the performance of the proposed schemes compared to the solution proposed in the literature and others using fully digital BF. Specifically, the proposed TDMA-based scheme achieves a sum-rate gain of up to 83% over the TDMA-based one existing in the literature. Moreover, we verify the superiority of applying both SB-and MB-NOMA instead of only MB-NOMA. INDEX TERMS Millimeter-wave communications, massive multiple-input multiple-output, hybrid beamforming, non-orthogonal multiple access, angle-domain information.

Research paper thumbnail of Diabetes Mobile Application as a Part of Semantic Multi-Agent System for E-Health

People with diabetes have an increased risk of developing many serious health issues such as cardiovascular diseases, blindness, kidney failure, and lower limb amputation. Self-monitoring, in addition to fast and remote assistance may significantly reduce this risk. People with diabetes can regularly monitor their blood glucose levels, blood pressure, cholesterol, diet, daily activities, medicine intake, and others, thanks to the evolution of sensors technology and built-in smartphone features such as barcode scanners, reminders, etc. Although many diabetes mobile applications are available in the market nowadays, they lack interoperability with other sensors/actuators technology, scalability and efficient intelligence. In this work, we propose a diabetes mobile application as part of a semantic multi-agent system for e-health. This mobile application is integrated within the CareWare architecture and the existing diabetes ontologies. The interconnection between the semantic multi-agent server and the mobile application is detailed in this paper. Moreover, communications between the biomedical sensors and the mobile application are realized and evaluated in real-life conditions in terms of diabetes patients' monitoring and assistance.

It can be considered the most time and resource consuming operations due to the need of complex operations. The main of this manuscript is to investigate the contribution of High Level Synthesis (HLS) techniques on the implementation of real time FFT algorithms using field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). In particular, this study focuses on communication systems incorporating filter-based-multicarrier modulations (FBMC), a promising candidate for the 5G technology. In order to evaluate the contribution of HLS, we implemented and tested various combinations such as: 8 and 16 points radix-2 and radix-4 FFT using finite precision, HLS tools and HDL while prompting parallelization, pipelining and hardware reuse architectures.

We can use it to enhance our environments, by augmenting the image, the voice and delivering details and annotations about the surrounding space. Augmented reality (AR) is a growing field, with many diverse applications ranging from TV and film production, to industrial maintenance, medicine, education, entertainment and games. This paper presents an improved approach for image augmented-reality, by acting on two axes in the augmented reality process. First, a machine learning step is added to the detection part. Second, the registration of augmented image is processed by using the following techniques: statistical appearance models, and covariance matrices of dense image descriptors. A tuning of the used techniques and algorithms will be done in order to obtain a reliable and real-time image augmentation. We give a detailed description on how we chose the methods, and we compare our approach with other methods used in this domain. Finally, an evaluation of the proposed technique is presented as well as a performance study for a given use case.

The method for multiplexing Left and Right images in stereoscopic images requires double quantity of information and more bandwidth: with Right (Q amount of information) and Left (Q amount of information), 3D image will require 2*Q amount of information. Our objective is to reduce this amount of information, and send the 3D image over one communication channel instead of two which will save bandwidth. In this paper, we tried different methods for reducing the amount of information from reducing the size of the right image, to compressing one image but they did not give 100% accuracy, and resulted in blurred images. Our proposed solution is to encode Right image based on the Left. Hence, the amount of information will become Q * (1 + α) instead of 2*Q, with α very small. This encoding will be done using one of the disparity methods in order to prepare the image to be sent over one channel using one of the watermarking techniques.

Research paper thumbnail of Effect of Transmission Opportunity Limit on Transmission Time Modeling in 802.11e

However, none of these models considers the 802.11e Contention Free Burst (CFB) mode which allows a given station to transmit more than one frame for each access to the channel. In order to develop a new and complete analytical model including all the differentiation parameters and able to be applied to all network conditions, we first need to know the time occupied by the transmission of a flow belonging to a given AC. The main objective of the current work is to analyze the TXOP bursting procedure and to propose a simple model allowing us to calculate the transmission time occupied by a particular AC when using the CFB mode. CFB performance analysis as well as the proposed model are discussed, demonstrated and validated by means of simulations.
