CRABBES UNDER INVESTIGATION | [18 Aug 2004|11:12am] |
---|---|
The Crabbe Manor in Greater Wellington is under investigation, writes Daily Prophet Investigative Reporter Peter Worthy prompted by an anonymous tip pertaining to the young son of the family. Ministry Investigators made a precursory visit to the manor and were met with resistance by the house elf."The elf, a Kimby by name, was reluctant to allow us into the house," states Investigator Colm Meany. "And since we didn't have a warrant or reason to search, there was little we could do about that."The problems arose, however, when the elf, over hearing the investigators speaking of tracking down the elf's master, blurted out something about a death. Nothing more could be gathered, however, as the elf shut and barred the door and proceeded to beat his head against it so fervently that the investigators apparated away in discomfort."The report that the son, Vincent, is missing, and this elf's slip of a death concerns the ministry, of course," reported Inspector Meany. "We are gathering the neccessary warrants for a search of the home. However, if anyone sees or hears from either Viktor Crabbe or Vincent, we ask that they please contact the Department of Magical Law Enforcement promptly." |
November 14: 210 Gryffindor, 90 Slytherin | [16 Aug 2004|05:06pm] |
---|---|
In the first match of the season, both Slytherin and Gryffindor came out fighting hard. Treating the spectators to an arduous five and a half hours of play, the players battled on for the first three hours without score, due largely in part to the downpour of rain, so thick that at times it obscured the pitch from view. However, juggling skills of the chasers also played a part, seeming unwilling on both sides to allow the other team to possess the quaffle for long, as well as the keeping skills of both Bridget O'Connor and Del Falcone, who allowed nothing to get by them.Yet, as soon as the rain broke, almost exactly at hour three, the scoring funk was lifted. Chasers James and Ryan Leary - under the captainship of Joey McCormack and the guidance of veteran chaser Ginny Weasley - managed a challenging joint move, shifting the quaffle effortlessly up the field for the first goal of the game. Almost immediately afterwards, Ginny Weasley followed with a goal of her own, having intercepted Slytherin captain Graham Pritchard's intended pass to Tracey Davis.Slytherin was quick to return the favor of these goals with a bit of effective beating, keeping the Gryffindor chasers on their toes for the next hour while the Slytherin chasers beat mercilessly upon Bridget O'Connor's defences. However, not a single goal managed to get past her through the fourth hour of the match. Gryffindor scored two more goals. As the fifth hour approached, either due to fatigue or the pressure of the match, O'Connor's focus began to go. Allowing several goals to slip past her, bringing the score to 60-40 Slytherin, the new Gryffindor keeper seemed to have lost her nerve. The Gryffindor beaters, Gillian Monahan and James Dorny, did what they could to keep the Slytherin chasers occupied. Monahan, as brutal as ever, was joined by James Dorny, a player who seems to compliment Monahan's aggressive play with a more tempered approach, his strategic strikes allowing Gryffindor to come up with two more much-needed goals. In the last ten minutes of the match, O'Connor allowed three more goals to whiz past her, seeming too phased by the previous six to know what hit her. Gryffindor captain and keeper Joey McCormack flew in to save O'Connor's neck, however, with an extraordinary catch of the snitch right from under young Ishida Kita's nose, who was distracted by another strategic bludger strike from James Dorny. The match concluded, 210-90 Gryffindor. | |

Monday, September Second became a day to remember for Ms. Amira Clarke. She officially won full custody of her son, Christopher, with the help of Mr. Nicholas Goyle. Mr. Goyle was kind enough to answer all the questions the reports on hand had concerning the trial, but neglected to mention his personal life. Personally, I found this to be rather disappointing due to the fact that yours truly happened to spot a rather large engagement ring on Ms. Clarke's finger. That coupled with the fact that there has been word floating about that Mr. Goyle has sought to adopt young Christopher in the near future. So could this trial's outcome have been influence by Mr. Goyle as a labour of love? I will leave that to you, dear readers. |

Falmouth Falcons' newest star falls hard. - Reginald ShiftingsIt would seem that the Falmouth Falcons have yet again lived up to their reputation of taking on talented but troubled youths. Bradley Monahan - the son of Richard Monahan, a respected member of the community and retired Wizengamot elder - has taken a turn for the worst. The nineteen-year-old beater has already forged himself quite the reputation as an arrogant and overly-confident young man, and according to our very reliable sources, has been suspected in foul play against one of his own teammates. What's more, he was recently suspended from the team for reasons that we have not been able to confirm, though witnesses claim that the young Monahan lashed out violently against his teammates during a routine practice. But that is not all this humble reporter has to tell you, no! Sources inside our very own ministry have informed me, exclusively, that Bradley Monahan is being detained for an indeterminate amount of time and may in fact lose his license to play - that is, if the Falcons haven't already decided to remove such a troublemaker from their roster. What dealings this young hotshot has involved himself in, we at The Daily Prophet can only guess at, but I assure all of our readers that we are appalled. It is a disappointment to see a youngster from such a respected family fall so quickly and so hard. Our condolences go out to Mr. and Mrs. Monahan. Remember, parents. Spare the wand and spoil the child. | |

April 4: Hufflepuff 190, Ravenclaw 180 | [04 Jan 2004|06:45pm] |
---|---|
In the second consecutive ten-point match of the season, the steadily improving Hufflepuff side narrowly managed a victory against Ravenclaw after one hour and forty-two minutes of play, thanks to a nicely executed catch by recovering Seeker Ellie Branstone and a last-minute goal by Hannah Abbott. The final goal was made just as the Snitch was caught -- fair, as Abbott had already released the Quaffle before Branstone made contact with the Snitch. As your intrepid announcer is no Hufflepuff insider, judgement cannot be fairly made on whether this was a brilliant strategy or a blind coincidence. The odds had been heavily in Ravenclaw's favour, due to the injuries sustained by Branstone in last month's Slytherin match; sources close to Madam Pomfrey report that she advised the Hufflepuff Seeker to sit out the remainder of the season. However, as Hufflepuff currently has no reserve Seeker, Branstone refused this suggestion. The betting pool one how long it would take her to go down proved irrelevent, though -- her shoulder was winged by a Bludger from Ravenclaw's Su Li, but Branstone shook off the hit and went otherwise uninjured. Though the Hufflepuff Beaters provided Branstone with adequate cover, this focus left something to be desired by the other members of the team -- Kevin Whitby sustained minor bruising to his upper back from a Bludger delivered by Mandy Brocklehurst. Brocklehurst also landed a Bludger squarely to the chest of Hufflepuff |

March 20: Slytherin 240, Hufflepuff 230 | [20 Dec 2003|07:35pm] |
---|---|
Both teams displayed relatively fair strategies today which drew out the match to a grueling eight hours. Obviously determined to level the point differential, the Hufflepuff Chasers showed more focus and aggression than usual and under Captain Justin Finch-Fletchley's direction managed to maintain control of the Quaffle for the better part of several hours. Due to the impressive assists, few goals can be fairly attributed to an individual Chaser, so it's only for simplicity's sake that I limit this summary to the fact that Finch-Fletchley scored eleven times, Hannah Abbott eight, and Kevin Whitby four. The Slytherin Chasers were held to nine goals, due in greater part to the aforementioned good work of the opposing Chasers than Hufflepuff Owen Cauldwell's continually mediocre Keeping skills. Five of those goals were from Tracey Davis, with four from Malcolm Baddock, while Graham Pritchard had yet to score.Allowing her teammates time to broaden their point margin, Hufflepuff Seeker Ellie Branstone managed to position herself between Slytherin's Draco Malfoy and the Snitch several times during the match. While Malfoy had no trouble forcibly moving Branstone, each time he had to pause to do so the Snitch darted out of sight once again. Branstone continued this tactic successfully into hour nine, when Slytherin Beaters Emma Dobbs and Captain Vincent Crabbe lured their Hufflepuff counterparts away from their Seeker with an unmitigated -- but legal -- attack on the Hufflepuff Chasers, in which Whitby sustained a minor shoulder injury. Susan Bones and Jacob Dunstall of Hufflepuff left their Seeker vulnerable in an effort to beat back said Bludger attack, at which point Dobbs took what was for her an unprecedentedly spectacular shot, delivering a Bludger nearly the length of the pitch to connect with the back of Branstone's head, sending the Hufflepuff Seeker out of the game and into the infirmary. (Branstone, for those concerned individuals among you, is expected to regain consciousness presently.) Malfoy captured the Snitch minutes later.HOUSE CUP STANDINGSSLYTHERIN: 900RAVENCLAW: 780HUFFLEPUFF: 670GRYFFINDOR: 610 | |

March 6: Ravenclaw 150, Gryffindor 40 | [06 Dec 2003|12:20pm] |
---|---|
In a welcome break after last month's marathon, this morning's match was resolved in thirty-one minutes. Gryffindor Captain Parvati Patil managed to fully shut out the talented Ravenclaw Chasers, despite the fact that they managed to maintain control of the Quaffle throughout the majority of the game. After his moderate injury in the last match, Ravenclaw Keeper Zvetan Dunstan appeared to be focused more on watching out for incoming Bludgers than tending his goals. Seamus Finnigan scored three times, with assists from Ginny Weasley, and Ron Weasley scored once. Seeker Kat Bundy eschewed the concept of pacing oneself yet again, but her nearly manic speed worked to her advantage in this instance, as she successfully dodged a volley of Bludgers from the MacDonald/Monahan team and captured the Snitch just as it was about to dart out of fair bounds.QUIDDITCH CUP STANDINGSRAVENCLAW: 780SLYTHERIN: 660GRYFFINDOR: 610HUFFLEPUFF: 440 | |

February 22: Slytherin 380, Ravenclaw 310 | [22 Nov 2003|12:56pm] |
---|---|
This morning brought with it the longest match we've seen this season, an impressive slugfest between Slytherin and Ravenclaw which lasted just over five hours. In an exhibition of flawless teamwork, Ravenclaw's Chasers made another stellar turn. Outmatching Slytherin Keeper Gregory Goyle to an almost comical extent, the trio turned in a total of thirty-one goals; eighteen from Captain Lisa Turpin, eight from Orla Quirke and five from Stewart Ackerley. Said Chasers had to do double-time keeping the Quaffle on their side after Keeper Zvetan Dunstan was struck by an unaided Bludger in hour four and removed from the pitch. The Slytherin Chasers (who hadn't exactly been flagging at that point, with nine goals from Tracey Davis, seven from Malcolm Baddock and two from Graham Pritchard) took full advantage of their good fortune and managed an additional five goals on the open hoop; three from Davis, one each from Baddock and Pritchard.Inarguably the least skilled pair currently playing at Hogwarts, Ravenclaw Beaters Mandy Brocklehurt and Su Li made an ineffectual showing, allowing the aforementioned injury and barely making a dent in the progress of the Slytherin Chasers or Seeker. Captain Vincent Crabbe and Emma Dobbs of Slytherin, however, played a disciplined match. In hour two, Ravenclaw Seeker Kat Bundy had a clear opportunity at the Snitch, but she was set back neatly by a Bludger from Crabbe. It appeared as though Bundy wore herself out early, circling the pitch at a rapid pace from the moment the Quaffle was released; she was lagging noticeably during the second half of the match. Slytherin's Draco Malfoy employed his usual strategy of lazily navigating the pitch and trash-talking the opposition until the final five seconds of the game, during which he captured the Snitch in a dive so sudden Ravenclaw hardly knew what hit it.QUIDDITCH CUP STANDINGSSLYTHERIN: 660RAVENCLAW: 630GRYFFINDOR: 570HUFFLEPUFF: 440**( Player note.Collapse )** | |

February 8: Gryffindor 190, Hufflepuff 80 | [08 Nov 2003|12:43pm] |
---|---|
The Hufflepuff side started the match strong, rallying behind Seeker Ellie Branstone and facing Gryffindor with a sort of grim determination not generally seen from the black and yellow. Unfortunately, someone must have forgotten to send Branstone the memo. Despite a promising start to her season in Hufflepuff's previous games, this morning her play bordered on lethargic, and there were one or two points where I'd confidently wager she forgot what she was looking for. Chaser Justin Finch-Fletchley put five goals past Gryffindor Keeper Parvati Patil, with assists from Hannah Abbott (who scored another two goals) and Kevin Whitby (who scored once) which displayed solid strategy and impressive teamwork. Keeper Owen Cauldwell made an unusually disciplined showing, holding the Gryffindor Chasers to four goals; three from Seamus Finnigan and one from Ron Weasley. Gryffindor Beater Gillian Monahan guarded the Chasers practically singlehandedly, but despite her skilled play Ginny Weasley suffered a sound Bludger strike after twenty minutes and was grounded for the remainder of the game. Although Hufflepuff Beaters Susan Bones and Jacob Dunstall, the latter playing an uncharacteristically reserved game, focused heavily on sending Bludgers towards Joey McCormack, Gryffindor Beater Natalie MacDonald tailed her Seeker relentlessly, leaving McCormack clear to capture the Snitch after fifty-eight minutes of play.QUIDDITCH CUP STANDINGSGRYFFINDOR: 570HUFFLEPUFF: 440RAVENCLAW: 320SLYTHERIN: 280 | |

January 25: Gryffindor 270, Ravenclaw 60 | [25 Oct 2003|12:16pm] |
---|---|
Gryffindor Captain Parvati Patil reclaimed her standing as one of Hogwarts' most skilled players this morning, facing off with Captain Lisa Turpin of Ravenclaw and holding the talented Chaser to only five goals, out of innumerable attempts. Stewart Ackerley accomplished a sixth goal for Ravenclaw, while Orla Quirke was briefly grounded following a stray Bludger to the ankle. Ravenclaw Keeper Zvetan Dunstan conceded twelve goals to the Gryffindor side; five from Seamus Finnigan, four from Ron Weasley and three from Ginny Weasley.Beaters Natalie MacDonald and Gillian Monahan played an especially impressive game. Although they lack the precision and easy communication of the Weasley twins, they make up for it in open aggression, which to their credit exhibits itself fairly. Seeker Kat Bundy was forced to dodge frequent attacks, and similar assaults from the Ravenclaw Beaters were headed off more often than not, leaving Joey McCormack of Gryffindor free to capture the Snitch after two hours and fourteen minutes of play.QUIDDITCH CUP STANDINGSGRYFFINDOR: 380HUFFLEPUFF: 360RAVENCLAW: 320SLYTHERIN: 280 | |

January 11: Hufflepuff 160, Slytherin 40 | [11 Oct 2003|11:11am] |
---|---|
( Player note.Collapse ) **( Previous games.Collapse )**A moderate snowfall began early this morning, limiting visibility throughout the forty minute match. In a slapstick blunder, Jacob Dunstall of Hufflepuff started off the match by sending a Bludger away from Ellie Branstone with superfluous force and following the maneuver with some tricky broom work. His showboating cost him, as the Bludger rapidly circumnavigated the pitch and returned to collide with the back of his skull while his attention was still on the fans. The resulting injury grounded him for the rest of the match, leaving Susan Bones, luckily the more talented of the pair, doing double-time to protect her team. Slytherin Beaters Vincent Crabbe and Emma Dobbs played with considerable finesse by comparison. Dobbs in particular made an encouraging showing; perhaps her sloppiness in November's game could be attributed to rookie jitters.Neither set of Chasers made a remarkable dent in the scorecards. Tracey Davis and Graham Pritchard got the Quaffle past a befuddled Owen Cauldwell two times each. Justin Finch-Fletchley, with a single goal, was the only Hufflepuff to score. In an upset that brought fans of each team to their feet with deafening cries of jubilation or protest, Ellie Branstone caught the Snitch for the second time in as many games, this time ending the losing streak that plagued Hufflepuff for the entirety of last season and putting them into the lead for this year's Quidditch Cup. Draco Malfoy, who was on the opposite end of the pitch when a familiar gold glint was spotted through the snow a yard away from Branstone, simply was not fast enough. As one of my Muggle colleagues once said, do you believe in miracles?QUIDDITCH CUP STANDINGSHUFFLEPUFF: 360SLYTHERIN: 280RAVENCLAW: 260GRYFFINDOR: 110 | |

Daily Prophet Article | [22 Sep 2003|09:08pm] |

Article from Society in the Daily ProphetLove is in the air around the Wizarding world. From our trusted sources, we have come across the newest duo prepared to shock our readers. These sources say that Lycaon Hamon, brother-in-law of supposed-Death Eater Nicholas Goyle, has been seen quite regularly with former Ravenclaw student and seeker, Cho Chang, who less than a week ago turned 19. If that isn't enough to make you wonder, the fact being that not even two months ago, Cho was seen with Hamon's nephew, Gregory Goyle (7th year Slytherin), very much in love, is rather sickening, in my humble opinion. You can imagine our shock when we found out about this, I'm sure. Mr. Hamon, 62, is more than three times this young lady's age, yet they were seen on what appeared to be a date at Le Pari', where the two shared laughs and loving gazes, then, readers, a kiss. Chang did not appear shocked at this, and instead looked on as Hamon examined the expensive silver dagger she'd given him for Christmas, adoration in her eyes. Then, Mr. Hamon requested a dance, which Chang gladly accepted. It wasn't a dance between friends, my readers. It was very romantic, and had the two not been such a strange couple, worthy of envy.It was a sight, my dear readers, but one we must all become used to, as I do believe that we'll be seeing more of Miss Chang and Mister Hamon together.Love? We think so.---------------Immah LierreDaily ProphetSociety--------------- | |
