Spy vs. Spy tattoo | [Oct. 25th, 2008|05:41 pm]Mad Magazine Fans |
---|---|
[**mood** |hopeful]So once I've got enough extra money saved up, I'm going to go and get a Spy vs Spy tattoo-But I'm not sure of what picture.I certainly can't draw the wonderful style that they used to be portrayed in, before the colored pages started coming out, so I'm not quite sure what to do.Should I just try to find a good panel of the two Spies together, or should I seek out someone who can draw the style? On that note, can anyone here draw in the style? Please let me know ;A; | |

Mad Magazine Game | [Feb. 14th, 2008|05:18 pm]Mad Magazine Fans |

Hey. I was wondering if anyone had any interest in the CD collection (PC-CD, has a lot of the magazines on it, US versions) I don't use it any more (havn't for years) and was wondering if there was any interest in it or not. I think there is just a bit of a tear in the huge box it came in (couldn't figure out how to open it when i was a youngin, lol). I'm in South Australia (so i guess that's where any postage kills it) I saw it on ebay for 250...i′mprettysuretheRRPwas250...i'm pretty sure the RRP was 250...i′mprettysuretheRRPwas100ish (this is quite a few years ago)So does anyone have interest in it? or know of people that could be interested? Thanks. (also if people need photos of it that can be arranged :) ) | |

Would some charitable person be willing to upload scans of the Peggy Sue Got Married spoof from MAD #270 (April, 1987) in order to save me six or seven dollars on eBay? I'd be very grateful. | |

Remember the articles with the two similar celebrity silhouttes next to each other, and the caption would say something like "Which one is Kirstie Alley... And which one is The Blob?" (Ok, I made that one up).Can anyone tell me who wrote/illustrated those articles (I have a feeling it was Al Jaffee, but I'm really not sure)? Anyone remember what they were actually titled? | |

I've been neglecting my relationship with MAD lately, but was re-inspired by an old copy lying about the house to check out some new copies. In addition to the regular issue, there was something called Mad Classics, and the subscription form in the front of the magazine says something about ordering regular issues + the 'classics'.So are these 'classics' a new name and watered-down format for the super specials? Do the super specials still make their way to the shelves, or are they now a fading memory? | |

_DEMONSTRATE YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES BY TRANSLATING THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS, THEN MATCHING THEM TO THE PROPER ENGLISH ANSWERS:_A: ¿Por que cruza el camino un................**1. That was no lady, that was my wife!**pollo? B: Pourquoi les pompiers port-..................**2. What - Me, worry?**ent-ils des bretelles rouges?C: Wer war die Dame mit der ich..............**3. To get to the other side.**Sie gestern Nache gesehen habe?D: Veni, vidi, vici!.................................**4. To keep their pants up!**-- from "MAD's College Entrance Exam", MAD #35The assumption of education among its readers, is what I wish to point out. The victims of today's Federal "schools" could not, in all probability, even say what languages those are, let alone read them. Just for their information, I will mention that these do link up, with one slightly goofy exception. | |

hi i'm new to the comm. i recently came across a box of old comics and mad magazines that were my girlfriends fathers. they are all early 60's and in mint condition i looked on a mad price guide and it says they are worth between 50 and 100 bucks a piece. but when i look on ebay all i see is people selling similar issues for like 5 bucks a piece. they are in worse condition and aren't usually as old as these but i want to know if anyone has had any luck selling older issues and if so whats the best way to do it? or should i just settle for the $50 i'm gonna get on ebay? | |

Hey guys. I uploaded some of the rarer Spy Vs Spy cartoon segments for MAD TV up onto my Youtube page here. The quality is a little questionable, but not all that bad--if you want the proper versions of ones that you particularly like, just comment here, there, or send me an AIM message (username "Lapinebreeze") and I'll be more than happy to deliver. I'll be updating my account with more of the cartoons all day, pretty much, but the ones that are up now are all the "high quality" ones. The ones I have left are the ones that can be found on just about any P2P program; they have very simple animation and are adaptations of the regular comic strips, instead of the paperback episodes. (I have no idea why there's such a discrepancy. If anyone could tell me why, I'd appreciate it a lot.) | |

So what's the deal with that MAD Classics thing? I saw an issue or two of it and wasn't sure whether or not it was supposed to be an an odd amalgam of MAD XL and nineties MAD back issues or something. I was frustrated to see that they didn't include some of the best bits from the sixties/seventies issues, though. I want a reprint of East Side Story so bad I can _taste it._By the way, if any Spy Vs Spy fans are interested, I put up two entries with Spy scans over at scans_daily a month or two ago: one here and one here, which is mostly bonus El Hombre Siniestro + Tovarich. I'll make another post, since I recently acquired the sixth paperback (I'm more than halfway done with my collection--counting the Casebook, I've got 5/9 Spy books!) and have scanned some stuff from it. | |

There is a LiveJournal (well, it looks like LiveJournal) parody on pages 16 and 17. Pretty funny. I wonder how long it will take for planettad to be registered. And what's the word on "Mad Kids"? I saw the ad on page 52 and thought it was a joke. Looks like the magazine's getting softer. | |

MAD Magazine Rocks My Face Off | [Jul. 16th, 2005|12:04 pm]Mad Magazine Fans |
---|---|
Hello, fellow MAD Readers! As you may have realized with this past MAD issue, you may have noticed that MAD Magazine is having a contest to see who can get the most Mad Mag subscriptions. Since I am a dedicated MAD reader, I have decided to take part in this contest. Here are the steps so that I, Stephanie Martin, can be credited with convincing you to become a MAD reader. 1. Go to madmag.com/freetrip.2. Enter you birthday3. Enter in my information (as follows: Last Name: Martin Address: 414 Aylesford Place Apt 4 Lexington, KY 40508)You may say, "Why can't I just go to the magazine rack and buy an issue of MAD?" It may seem convenient but it really is not. Saving my friend's money and time (because you are not driving all the way out to the magazine rack) is important to me. Informing my friends of what humor is really about is also on my priority list. So, help me help you and order a subscription of MAD today. | |

Ok so if you own the MAD Cover to Cover you know that they have the 12 covers that is "The Soul of MAD". My goal is to own all these covers, I believe I have 2 so far, maybe 3. Any way there is this place Harrisons and they have a TON of old MADS, only thing is it's in a place that sucks to take the bus to and my car was totaled. Any way I want to own the 10 other "Soul of MAD" covers , the MAD from my B-day Month and Year, The one with the Middle Finger on it and a few others. So here is something I've been wondering. What is your most treasured MAD possesion? Mine would have to be the issue that Alfred first appeared on. I paid 85forit(got85 for it (got 85forit(got10 off). People think I'm crazy for paying that much, but if you are a true fan then you'll understand why. | |

MAD magazines need a good home! | [May. 8th, 2005|01:25 pm]Mad Magazine Fans |
---|---|
Hi all,I have something of a stack of various MAD magazines from all throughout the 90s, plus the Star Wars Spectacular, a book of posters, and the book MAD about the Sixties. Almost every issue is in pristine or excellent condition (I'll note when it's not). I'm moving in a month, and while I wouldn't expect to get any huge money from them, I'm loath to throw them out. So I'll list the issue dates behind a cut, and if anyone's interested in any, I'd happily send them for not much more than the cost of shipping.**( thanks for looking!Collapse )**So if anyone is interested or has anyquestions, just let me know, and we can figure out costs and everything. I have paypal, but I'm just as fond of the personal check or cash. And located in Ohio, if that means anything. Thanks again! | |

[**mood** |anxious]Hi, my name is Mike, and I've been a MAD fan from the 70s (off and on). Latley I've gotten back into the magazine after meeting Tom Richmond online. For those fans of Tom, here's a peek at his HULK parody (penciled); click image to make super huge. Enjoy:)I was hoping that you could help me find something from the archives. It's Don Martin's sound effects page from MAD #210, Oct 1979, Page 23: The Katzenjammer Kid's Dog Barking At Them In German. I know I saw it in one of the Anthologies; but I don't recall which one. I got the issue # online from one of those DM sites. If you have it; please scan it and I'll let you know my email. Or you can link me to it--whichever works best for you:) In return, I'll send you an animated gif, of that image, for your LJ.Thanks:) I hope that you can help me with it:) :)-Mike | |

If I was not insane and loved MAD so much, I would have shut this community down a while ago...does anybody not have anything to say?So I pose these questions...you can answer one, none, or all; whichever you prefer: 1. Who is your favorite MAD idiot? Why? 2. Have you ever posed as Alfred E. Newman? If so, what was the occasion? 3. If yes to #2, would you do it again or if no, would you ever do it? 4. What's your favorite MAD spoof? Why? 5. What do you think about Mountain Dew using Spy vs Spy? 6. How many MAD magazines do you own? 7. Where do you keep your MAD magazines? 8. Has MAD gotten you in trouble for whatever reason? 9. Why did the chicken cross the road? 10. Comments, concerns, protests, etc etc | |
