| | January 4th, 2012**07:29 am - Arisia**I won't be attending Arisia this year. However, I expect to be at the hotel at times, behind the MASSFILC table on Saturday and at the MASSFILC business meeting on Sunday. My decision came in three stages.1. I decided not to participate in the program this year because of the disappointing turnout at the silent movie. If this is anyone's fault, it's mine for not being as good an accompanist as people wanted, but I had to consider the effective use of my time. Preparing for a movie requires a lot of work, and I'm hoping to do find more interest at Boskone.2. I decided not to get a hotel room because of the party situation. Last time, because of difficulty in getting rooms at all, I was stuck on a party floor next to a really loud party that kept its door open, and I couldn't get to sleep till 3 AM. This was annoying but still not a moral issue.3. I decided not to attend the convention after Arisia donated memberships to "Con or Bust," an organization that gives out memberships to people of qualifying skin color. This is a moral issue.I'll be around at times but won't be attending any convention events.(1 comment | Leave a comment)**12:59 pm - Another domain moving**Now I'm moving ledgewoodhills.org, the unofficial website for my condominium association, from Godaddy to Namecheap. This one is a little trickier, since it was hosted on Godaddy. Fortunately, I can add a domain on he.net at no extra cost, so the hosting isn't a problem, but there could be some downtime in the transition.By the way, here's the official website for Ledgewood Hills. I'll leave people to judge for themselves which is better.
