magicaldoremi (original) (raw)

A couple of weeks ago, Japanese girl group Idoling!! had a cosplay-themed performance on their variety show where they performed anime theme songs while dressed up as certain characters. Among many of the songs sung, "Ojamajo Carnival!!" was one of them, performed by 19-year-old Hitomi Miyake (2nd generation, member 17) as Doremi, 15-year-old Ruka Kurata (4th generation, member 22) as Momoko, and 16-year-old Yuna Ito (4th generation, member 23) as Onpu. Ironically, the song was originally performed by the voice cast of Doremi, Hazuki, and Aiko rather than with Onpu and Momoko. In addition to the interesting choice of characters, all members are dressed up in the witch apprentice uniforms from Mo~tto! Ojamajo Doremi.

Idoling!! is a musical girl group founded in 2006 by Fuji TV consisting of 30 aspiring female talents, all from different agencies. Their experiences and road to stardom are documented and broadcasted on their own variety show on the aforementioned channel.

Okay, so I'm sure some of you have heard of 4Kids' new streaming site, Toonzaki, which is set to launch soon. It's at http://www.toonzaki.com (you MUST put the www in there or it will take you to a weird dialogue box) and it's been said to have uncut (and maybe some cut) anime (they already have subbed episodes of Sonic X on their YouTube channel and Hulu page, and they used to have some Yu-Gi-Oh! but a legal dispute had them removed).

So their Facebook page ( http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=373641529547&topic=15922 ) has the following anime listed:

( Really long listCollapse )

They told us not to ask what's dubbed or subbed, though. I don't know what will happen to 4KidsTV.com and all the episodes of the anime and non-anime shows on it (I noticed Huntik on the list, and that's not even anime, but it's Italian - by the creators of Winx Club, but 4Kids didn't dub this, at least I don't think so), but we'll see what happens. I am not certain it will be on the site uncut (they still call it Magical DoReMi on the list and I'm not sure if they'll license further seasons, not likely though), but we'll see when it happens.

Well, if you've seen 4Kids.TV now, you'll notice a huge change - The Toonzai site is ready. It's said the Toonzai schedule starts September 18, but I'm not sure what's on it. However, Magical DoReMi remains on the website. Also, on The CW Daytime this Friday at 4PM, there will be another CW4Kids preview special. That should tell us something, I have my DVR set up to record it - I'll watch and see if Magical DoReMi is on it.

Also, notice Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Winx Club are gone. The former is old news - Nickelodeon now has the rights to it. The latter... looks like the rumors are true (they got rid of the YouTube episodes too)... maybe that's why it got pulled so early...

EDIT: Never mind,

http://www.toonzone.net/schedule/index.php?browseNetworkID=24

The new schedule is out. Magical DoReMi isn't on it, but I'm not giving up yet, for two reasons.

1. Another show called Tai-Chi Chasers was announced, but I don't see that anywhere either. That preview special may have some info on it, too.
2. Cubix only has 26 episodes, how long do you think they can keep it for a full hour?

I say first we wait until Cubix finishes its CW4Kids... er, Toonzai... run. Then we wait until Tai-Chi Chasers debuts, presumably midseason, maybe January or February 2011. If it doesn't premiere alongside that, it will likely not return to television... or just randomly pop on and off like 4Kids has been doing lately...

EDIT AGAIN: So Magical DoReMi wasn't on the preview, but then again, neither was Tai-Chi Chasers. The preview acted as though Cubix would stay on for a full hour, but I'd like to know what happens after it finishes...

So I'm sure you've all heard of The CW4Kids becoming "Toonzai" in the fall, well look at this shot from Michael's Winx Club site: (Sorry to link to the news page, but Geocities does not allow hotlinking and Michael does not allow people to take his images:)

http://www.michaelsfavorites2.com/winxclub3/newspage.html

I see Sonic X, Yu-Gi-Oh! (those two are already confirmed, the latter by TV promos), Dragon Ball Z Kai (again, also confirmed), Dinosaur King (was not previously confirmed, but all signs pointed to yes), Magical DoReMi and Cubix.

Could this mean Magical DoReMi could return as part of Toonzai in the fall and fulfill the E/I requirements alongside Cubix? Could they air the "second season" on TV?

Nothing's confirmed, but I will update as I find out more info! However, considering Cubix only has 26 episodes, it's doubtful that it will stay for a full hour for long.

( Mini-rant about the first hour - somewhat off-topicCollapse )

According to ToonZone, starting July 24, Magical DoReMi (and Winx Club) will both be replaced by Cubix: Robots for Everyone:

http://www.toonzone.net/forums/showthread.php?p=3637850#post3637850

I trust that spidey guy - he gets his info straight from the horse's mouth:

- 07:00 - Cubix: Robots For Everyone
- 07:30 - Cubix: Robots For Everyone
- 08:00 - Sonic X
- 08:30 - Sonic X
- 09:00 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Back to the Sewer
- 09:30 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Back to the Sewer
- 10:00 - Sonic X
- 10:30 - Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's
- 11:00 - Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's
- 11:30 - Dinosaur King

Personally I'm torn between this. For one, I'm upset to see DoReMi removed so fast, but I'm also pleased to see Cubix back on TV for the first time in about six years. I love that show...

4Kids has started posting Magical DoReMi episodes on their YouTube channel. If you don't have the motivation to wake up at 7 AM, you can watch the show in their YouTube channel!
