The need to avoid food shortages for the growing population and achieve sustainable development goals is the first priority of researchers. To meet this challenge, importance is now being placed on the incorporation of organic manures for the rejuvenation of soil health and increased productivity in agriculture. The use of vermicompost, biofertilizers, and natural manures helps to enhance the physical, chemical, and biological properties of the soil. Vermicomposting is a biotechnological process that can be used to produce high-quality manure for successful agricultural production. A field application study was conducted using vermicompost, Rhizobium - a biofertilizer, and farm yard manure (FYM) to determine soil physico-chemical and biological properties, growth parameters, nodulation, and yield of soybean (Glycine max) in south Tamil Nadu, India. The selection of the crop and manure is of prime importance because of the enhancement of soil productivity in terms of nitrogen availability and the increased presence of micronutrients in the soil. Soybean have rich protein source, and their nodulation fixes nitrogen to improve the soil's fertility. The organic manures support the growth and multiplication of soybean and proliferate the beneficial microbial population in the soil. The present study evidenced all the expected quality parameters and the maximum soybean yield of 1.85 tons per hectare, which was obtained from a vermicompost applied plot when compared to other manure applied plots. The physico-chemical properties and microbial count of the soil were significantly increased during the application of vermicompost and biofertilizer compared to the application of FYM.

Emerging contaminants, including pharmaceutical drug molecules, personal care products, and micro... more Emerging contaminants, including pharmaceutical drug molecules, personal care products, and microplastics, are frequently present in the environmental samples. These are derived from various sources of municipal wastewater discharges, domestic solid waste dumped on land, disposal from farmlands, and industrial discharges. These may cause innumerous hazardous effects, particularly endocrine disruption to all the organisms exposed to such contaminants. The treated sewage sludge is applied to the agricultural field without screening for emerging contaminants. As a result of the toxicity exposed to the organisms, antibiotic-resistant bacteria disseminated in the environment due to the occurrence of antibacterial drugs in the environmental samples. It is reported that more than 200 different kinds of pharmaceutical drugs were found in the river water, and the ciprofloxacin concentration was up to 6.5 mg/l. Global water scarcity has a major impact on agriculture, leading to the use of treated wastewater for farmland. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognizes pharmaceutical and personal care products (PPCPs) as carcinogens and endocrine disruptors. Many scientists have recently reported that these kinds of novel contaminants are toxic and can affect the environment and health. This paper critically analyzes emerging contaminants and their impact on the environment and health. Further, it presents viable solutions to manage and control them through various analytical techniques, artificial intelligence, and machine learning methods.

The tight focusing of a double ring-shaped radially polarized sinh-Gaussian beam with a cosine ph... more The tight focusing of a double ring-shaped radially polarized sinh-Gaussian beam with a cosine phase plate is studied on the basis of the vector diffraction theory. Under a high-NA focusing condition, the strong longitudinal component forms a sharper spot at the focal point for both fundamental mode (R-TEM01*) beams and higher-order, radially polarized mode beams. Due to destructive interference between the inner and outer rings, double-ring-shaped radially polarized mode (R-TEM11*) beams in particular can significantly lower the focal spot size. Simulation results show that the focused fields and phase distributions at focus are largely influenced by both the cosine parameter and truncation coefficient of the incident beams. Moreover, shifted focal spot, and optical cage patterns can be flexibly achieved by carefully choosing the cosine parameter (C) and it is also observed that the intensity distribution of the different modes has little variation among the degree of truncation (β) of the input beam beside the pupil. This work is important for optical manipulation, particle limitation systems, laser surface modification and laser direct writing techniques.

In this paper, the tunable focusing properties of azimuthally polarized sinh Gaussian beams induced by cosine phase masks are investigated theoretically by vector diffraction theory. Results show that when the azimuthally polarized sinh Gaussian beam with cosine phase plate is focused, the focal pattern differs considerably with frequency parameter (C) in the cosine function term. Increasing the value of frequency parameter in the cosine part of the phase mask, focal shift may occur, including multiple-peak focal pattern were also given to show that the focusing properties of this kind of sinh beams may be used to construct tunable optical traps.

The samples were characterized using powder Xray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and UV–visible diffusion reflectance spectroscopy (UV–VISDRS). Powder XRD results revealed that both samples prepared with and without surfactant crystallize in the orthorhombic structure corresponding to WO3·H2O phase. Subsequent annealing under identical conditions (600 ◦ C/air/6 h) led to significantly different products i.e. monoclinic W17O47 from surfactant free sample and similarly monoclinic phase of WO2.72 from EDTA assisted sample. Blue emission was observed through UV–VIS-DRS with band gap energy around 3.28 and 3.47 eV for EDTA assisted samples respectively.
