I'm accepting PEP 498. Congratulations Eric! And thanks to everyone who contributed. A lot of thought and discussion went into this -- Eric himself was against the idea when it first came up!
For those wondering about the fate of PEPs 501 and 502: 501 will be deferred, and 502 will be turned into an informational PEP with background information on string interpolation across the ages (so to speak :-). Thanks to Nick Coghlan and Mike Miller for being good sports about it, and for contributing valuable tire-kicking and devil's advocacy of PEP 498.
Now if only PEP 495 could be as easy... :-)
