Wade Tisthammer recently published an excellent response to my sole-authored Mind article. His response is both interesting and reasonable, but I don’t think it ultimately succeeds. In this post, I’ll explain why.

Hey all! I recently left a comment on a fascinating new post by Dr. Rob Koons wherein he offers thoughts on the UPD and develops two new arguments for causal finitism. I left a comment on his post, but I figured I would post the comment here in case you’re interested. For greater context, you should definitely read Koons’ post!
Note [added 1/10/2025]: Thanks to Troy from Friction Philosophy (substack, YouTube), I’ve added a few things to this post. Here’s Troy’s own post responding to Koons!

Today I’ll be responding to Jack Boczar’s recent article “Existential Inertia and Thomistic Esse” in the Thomist journal New Blackfriars.
Unfortunately, I won’t set up any dialectical context for the reader. For context, I invite you to first read all of Aquinas’s works, then read my entire book (and subscribe to my OnlyFa Patreon), and then read Boczar’s paper.
Below, I proceed through each section of Boczar’s paper and offer chronological commentary and responses.

One thing I appreciate about Pat Flynn’s approach to worldview debates is his emphasis on avoiding tribalistic impulses. This is beautiful, and we need more of it. In today’s post, I hope to offer a non-tribalistic response to (only a few of) Pat Flynn’s recent arguments.

This post serves as a one-stop-shop for my various criticisms of the Grim Reaper Kalam. Here you’ll find links to my published articles and videos on the topic. Enjoy!

Recently, Tyler McNabb published an article in the Thomist journal New Blackfriars responding to portions of my book entitled Existential Inertia and Classical Theistic Proofs (co-authored with Daniel Linford). Many thanks to fellow gunner Tyler for his engagement and for sharing a pre-print of his article with me. In today’s post, I will respond to that article.
NOTE (added 2/2/24): McNabb responds to my post here. I further respond to McNabb’s response here.

Recently, Patrick Rooney has argued that neither external relations nor their relata can have existential inertia. Many thanks to Rooney for his engagement, and I will reciprocate that engagement as I respond to his case in this post.
This is a guest post by Dr. Daniel Linford. You can find Dr. Linford’s PhilPeople profile here.
“The mind seemed to grow giddy by looking so far into the abyss of time; and while we listened with earnestness and admiration to the philosopher who was now unfolding to us the order and series of these wonderful events, we became sensible how much farther reason may sometimes go than imagination can venture to follow.”
John Playfair, 1797, Biographical Account of James Hutton, p. 35
I was recently reading Feser’s contribution to the new Routledge collection on classical theism, and Feser is still claiming that denying DDS entails the possibility of polytheism. In this post, I explain why this is wrong.

My new book is now available for order! It’s published with Springer and co-authored with Dr. Daniel Linford. See the bottom of this post for a list of errata and clarifications.
