Brief (around 300 words) personality outline of your character:

The Doctor is eccentric – or rather, he comes off as shamelessly eccentric, even if he’s trying to pose as an ordinary human. He tends to think out loud, rambling over others as he works out the problem and is known to be sometimes rude even to his companions. While the Doctor’s able to work out impossible problems, he also tends to get a narrowed focus where he can make mistakes and miss obvious outcomes because he was so busy trying to be ten steps ahead. These mistakes are in part due to overconfidence: part of it I would say is age, the other part because he’s had 907(ish) years to get used to operating the way he does . The Doctor has good intentions but that tendency to overreach himself has repercussions – he can’t save everyone, sometimes he expects too much of human behavior and other times he has tried to flaunt his own (in)famy to force an enemy to back down, displaying a level of arrogance.

Despite the gawky professor look and energetic curiosity, the Doctor is very aware of his demons, although he has a tendency to internalize it and either ignore any questions about it or give a brief answer and then change the subject. He’s had a considerable number of lifetimes to get used to the darkness inside, and he’s known his far share of wrath, as well as jealousy. He’s shown to have insecurity about his motives for traveling with companions over the years, and even a fear if he’s “relevant” anymore. Doctor strives to be the best he can be by saving others and not turning his back, but for whatever positive traits he has, there’s an equal amount of negative ones, and he can be cruel and dismissive at times. Doctor’s also displayed a temper, as well as impatience when people don’t fall into place with his plans.

Essentially the Doctor is an old man in a younger man’s body. His idea of “cool” can be embarrassing to others, such as his love of bowties and fezzes. He also isn’t much for modesty, in either the literal or figurative sense. Because of the nature of his traveling in time and space, and his own perception, he also can get dates and centuries mixed up – to others, being in the 18th Century is impossible, but to him it could have been just a matter of yesterday.

The Doctor genuinely tries to do good despite his failings, even if it’s partially because he truly cares and partially because he’s that curious. His first impression on others is friendly, maybe a little too much touchy-feely because he likes to poke around and investigate things. Although the Doctor can be casually rude to people, he does want people to live up to their full potential. In a sense, he tries to push them to think better and just generally be better.

Brief (around 500 words) history and background of your character OR link to a really good wiki page with their history. In either case, explain where they cut off from the timeline:

The Doctor is taken from post-A Christmas Carol

EDIT

: In short: the Doctor is the lone survivor of an alien race called the Time Lords. On normal days, he travels around in a blue box called the TARDIS with select companions, through time and space (or both). Despite what Amy Pond calls his babyface, he's actually quite old, standing at 907(ish, because he could be lying about his age).

Sample post (just a general, everyday, puttering-around-the-ship post; please include a snippet of dialogue):

Here’s a link of a prose thread I had with an Amy Pond:

f the character has magic, mutant, or otherwise metahuman abilities, please explain what they are and outline EXACTLY how they function, as their powers may not work due to the nature of the ship or may need to be limited somehow:

The trickiest one I would have to say is his own view of time: he’s mentioned in canon as his previous incarnation that his perception of time is different from a human, that he can see outcomes and it’s not purely linear for him. The recent Eleventh Doctor books also support this, with Nuclear Time showcasing how he’s able to work backward through time “hiccupping” and also how he can see faint strands of timelines spinning off from each other. I think that this could possibly be limited though, as it could be interesting to have to cope with a more limited perspective of time and also because it’s less likely to risk fourth walling some characters. The Doctor’s also a little – okay, more than a little – bit psychic, recently demonstrated by Tenth Doctor and also by Eleventh Doctor’s incarnations. He’s been shown recently to do it by touching the other person’s face with his hands to form a connection, although if pressed for time, he’s also found more, uh, upfront ways of doing it (AKA a well-placed headbutt). He’s also been seen using his sense of smell and taste to identify an atmosphere (Time of Angels) and the composition/age of something (Eleventh Hour, Hungry Earth).

Non-superhuman special abilities of note (Is your character a master ventriloquist? A naturally-occurring super-genius? The best martial artist in the world? Say so here):

The Doctor isn’t much of a physical fighter. It’s not like the skill set isn’t – wasn’t – there, considering how he was good nine faces ago with tossing Venusian aikido out like candy, but as of present, the Eleventh Doctor doesn’t care much for fighting and, hasn’t been shown to be incredibly resilient (ie he got shocked in Vampires in Venice and The Pandorica Opens). If anything, he prefers a good chat, with him probably doing most of the chatting, and having a good sniff about with the sonic screwdriver. He also happens to be a rather good footballer, which probably came as much as surprise to him as it did to his flatmate at the time. Despite his skinny frame, he’s also got decent endurance, what with all that running. Eleven also displays fantastic memory and eye sight from a single glance (Eleventh Hour) but I think its possibly to nerf this if it’s a problem with info-modding, same goes with the other abilities.

NERFED ABILITIES - Perception of non-linear time (he can only see linearly, like a human), eidetic memory
WHAT HE HAS PREVIOUSLY: TARDIS (higher functions locked), bowtie, tweed jacket, sonic screwdriver, small pile of "stuff" from his old pockets
