Massey discusses the concept of space and the term spatial, and the great difficulties faced by geographers in their quest to adequately (and perhaps uniformly) define these important geographical terms while working towards better understandings of space and its inherent properties.

Such type of authoring can be seen clearly in news narratives. This paper explores the said phenomenon in relation to the notion of order and disorder as appeared in the crime news of newspapers. In lieu of the above, a deep gazing over metaphors on foreigners as criminals is being conducted. This study applied qualitative content analysis as the methodology to gather and analyze the data.In this relation, seventy-eight local crime news as published in The Star was chosen for in-depth analysis.

For the past 10 years, the relationship between the increasing number of foreign nationals in Malaysia and crime rate/crime reporting become an issue discussed from the grass roots to the members of the Malaysian parliament as in the early of 2016, the government in power announced to freeze the hiring of foreign nationals. There were Malaysian whom disagree with the government decision to hire more foreign nationals specifically the Bangladeshi in 2016. This article analysed recent news discourses involving foreign nationals in Malaysian crime news reporting. Four English language daily newspapers were investigated over the year of 2016 which are The Star, The New Straits Times, The Sun, and The Malay Mail. The paper argues that foreign nationals is the 'ideal' other which cause them to be associated to various negative activities. It is important to match the types of SNS to the motives for using them as well as to acquire a profile of youth users. A survey was conducted nationwide among youths aged 17-40 years old using a self-developed questionnaire. A total of 703 respondents were identified for the study. Data were analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) WIN 20. There were more male respondents than female, and they were mainly Malay, single, Muslims, adolescents and undergraduates. Results of the youth profiles revealed that there were differences among the youths' demographic characteristics and the types of SNS they subscribed to. The top three SNS identified were Facebook, Yahoo and Skype. Almost one third used them daily. Most of the SNS were used for social, followed by education and communication motives. Specifically, Twitter is also used for social, communication and entertainment motives while blogs were used for the religious, education, business and politics motives. The study applied both the social network theory and information-seeking theory with the purpose of finding out how youths could be motivated to draw on the vast knowledge available and accessible in the SNS for their own benefit, and not merely for social networking.

Such activities are invariably seen (at the time at least) as major social concerns and the media led reaction magnifies and widens the 'panic' surrounding them. This review starts by considering Stan Cohen's seminal work on and analysis of moral panics -indeed it was his initial research in the early 1970s that popularized the term itself -and looks at Jock Young's almost contemporaneous study of drug users. More recent studies that have reflected on and attempted to refine Cohen's work, including Young's revisiting of the notion that moral panics 'translate fantasy into reality', are highlighted as is the relationship between 'signal crimes' and moral panics. It then considers some historical and contemporary examples of moral panics surrounding some quite different activities (and perpetrators of them) -in particular, garotting in mid-Victorian England, 'hoodies' and paedophilia. The review concludes that there are key elements to moral panics and that these panics are the result of real events and actual behaviour and cannot be dismissed as myths.
