Burn care requires expertise and sophisticated health care facility. Unfortunately, Burn Surgery has always been a neglected part of Surgery & Allied Sciences. The published literature is not adequate and a lot has to be done yet. Different treatment options and modalities are practiced in different settings and tertiary care hospitals. This comparative study focuses on the treatment of Postburn flexion contracture of fingers which is a grave condition for burn victim. Post burn contractures affecting function remain the most frustrating late complication of burn injury. The fingers, because of their terminal anatomical location, are at the real risk in any burn of the upper extremity even if they are not directly involved. When burned, the extensor surface of the digits is more critical because of the superficial location of the tendons and the bony structure. The volar surface of the fingers is ...

The patient presenting, was a 74-year-old Caucasian female referred to the gastroenterology clinic with an incidental finding of deranged liver enzymes. The most significant of which were her gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP), which were 40 times and 10 times their upper limit of normal respectively. The liver enzymes blood test done 16 months prior to this was normal. A liver biopsy was arranged, which showed peri-portal lymphoid infiltration with prominent eosinophils, focal necrosis in the lobules and extensive bilirubin stasis in the hepatocytes. The conclusion was that the histology was suggestive of chronic drug-induced cholestatic hepatitis. Her only medication was amlodipine 5mg, which she had been on for about 8 months. Subsequent liver function testing after discontinuing Amlodipine demonstrated normalizing liver enzymes. This case is an example of idiosyncratic drug induced liver injury and supports the sparse existing literature which has been reported on amlodipine-induced hepatoxicity.

Varus deformity which is usually accompanied by equinus, is commonly caused by an abnormal posterior tibial muscle, anterior tibial muscle or both. If left untreated, may cause severe fixed foot deformity .Various methods of treatment have been reported. Material and Method:Twenty patients (25 feet) were included in this study. The patients were assessed clinically and patients with forefoot varus and aquinus were treated by split transfer of tibialis anterior to the cuboid and patients with hind foot varus and equinus were treated by split transfer of tibialis posterior tendon through interosseous membrane, to the lateral cuniform. Percutaneus lengthening of tendocalcaneus was performed in all patients. The outcome was analyzed. Results:The age range at the start of study was between six to ten years (mean 8years.), and at the last follow up was eight to fourteen years (m...
