This edition features:KAT GEORGESKat Georges is a NYC poet, playwright, performer and designer. Her full-length poetry collection, Our Lady of the Hunger, will be released soon by Three Rooms Press. In New York since 2003, she has directed numerous off-Broadway plays, curated poetry readings (including the bi-monthly Son of a Pony poetry reading series at Cornelia Street Cafe) and performed widely. _5:11 pm_[0klman]	A "Taiwan Phenomenon" At The CMJ Music Marathon: 3 Bands, 3 Sounds The CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival, New York City's largest and longest running music event, is known for its diverse artists, lively audiences, and in keeping with the Big Apple's own culture, international flavor. This year's 2011 CMJ Showcase will be no exception as three Taiwanese bands make their first appearance, bringing the sounds of Taiwan and their own individual styles to the people of NYC.Dubbed "The Taiwan Phenomenon," the bands - Bearbabes, Echo, and 1976 - will make their first CMJ appearance from 8-10pm on Wednesday, October 19th at Dominion NY. The showcase is being organized by the Taiwan Government Information Office (GIO) and a-Peer Music Co., Ltd. So what should we expect from our friends from the East? "Cosmo-Country" divas, THE VANITY BELLES™, have surprised the NYC music scene by choosing The Bitter End to hold their highly anticipated EP release show on Thursday, July 14th at 10pm. The band joins a long list of rising stars, including Lady GaGa, to site Bleecker Street’s historical Bitter End as an integral part of their rise to popularity, and have been overheard dubbing the venue “home." Apple’s iTunes store listed The Vanity Belles' self titled, debut EP as “New & Noteworthy." The rise in gourmet food trucks in New York City, and across the nation, means that people can sample different types of cuisines during their lunch hour without spending the time or money at a traditional restaurant. The annual Food Truck Festival celebrates this concept by taking some of New York’s best food trucks and bringing them all to one place—this year, the location is Governor’s Island.
