The present study pointed out the effectiveness of mental health promotion program on pre-university students. It brings positive outlook in their future life in various aspects. Objectives: Determine the knowledge of Pre-university students on mental health promotion and evaluate the effectiveness of Mental Health Promotion Program (MHPP) among pre-university students. Materials and Methods: Research design adopted in this study was quasi experimental pre-test and post-test control group design with an intervention to assess the effectiveness of program. Data was collected using demographic pro forma and knowledge questionnaire on mental health promotion. Data analysis was done using SPSS software 16 version. Results: In the pre-test, most 95.71% of the students had poor knowledge, 4.29% students had average knowledge scores in mental health promotion knowledge questionnaire. In the post-test, most of 52.85% had poor knowledge, 30% had average knowledge and 17.15% had good knowledge scores. Conclusion: Mental health promotion program was very effective in boosting the adolescent's knowledge on mental health promotion. In present study, only 8.57% students had poor knowledge in the post-test of experimental group and in control group most of them (97.14%) had poor knowledge scores on MHPP.

Communication with the victim is important to collect relevant information from the victims. Ineffective communications can cause re-victimization and hamper the medico-legal evidence collection. Main text: This article aims to orient the novice examiner and nurses to the prerequisites of medico-legal history collection, techniques of building trust, establishing rapport, ensuring privacy and confidentiality, taking consent, communicating effectively with the victims of sexual assault, and components of medico-legal history collection. Conclusions: Novice examiners and nurses need to be trained in collecting medico-legal history and evidence. The examiners who conduct the examination should be dedicated to delivering compassionate and high-quality care to individuals who have disclosed sexual assault.

Professionals in the emergency departments of hospitals might not have specialised training in forensic science. Nurses have a very significant role in these settings, but they lack any formal forensic training. This study aims to develop a sexual assault nurse examiner-grounding program (SANE-GP) for Indian nurses to inculcate knowledge and skill regarding sexual assault examination. The study adopts a three-stage Delphi technique to develop the training module and uses a time-series design to evaluate the effectiveness of the program. A questionnaire on nurses’ knowledge on sexual assault examination (KQSANE-I) will be developed in phase-I and subsequently used in phase-II. The protocol of SANE-GP will help the medical community to implement the program across India. The implementation of SANE-GP can also help to start a sexual assault nurse examiner network.

It will assess the effectiveness of the Gatekeeper Training Program (GTP) on gatekeeper behaviour, awareness, attitude, and mental help seeking intention. Design: An evaluative research approach in two phases. Phase 1: Cross-sectional house-to-house exploratory survey. Phase 2: A quasi-experimental design with multiple follow ups at 0, 6 and 12 months. Method: Data will be collected using standardized tools like Mental Health Knowledge Questionnaire (MHKQ), Community Attitude towards Mentally Ill (CAMIS), Mental Help Seeking Intention (MHSIS) and Gatekeeper Behavior Scale (GBS). For Phase 1, a house-to-house survey will be conducted among the selected colonies of Koraga tribe to determine their awareness, attitude, and mental help seeking intention regarding common mental health problems. Phase 2 includes identification of the leaders/representatives of the selected tribal c...

Complete and transparent reporting of nursing research with the standard guidelines such as, The Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE), Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT), Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA), Standards for reporting qualitative research (SRQR), Consensus-based Clinical Case Reporting Guideline (CARE) and Consolidated criteria for reporting qualitative research (COREQ)will ensure the transparency through the minimum set of items required to reflect what was one done? What are the outcomes? What are the benefits? What are the issues that bring bias and what are the harms? The ‘Enhancing the Quality and Transparency of Health Research’ (EQUATOR) network and ‘Penelope Research’ also helps the authors to solve problem of finding out of relevant reporting guidelines. Whatever may be the reason writing and publishing high impact nursing and health research is the need of the day.

It is a helping profession requiring a high degree of commitment and involvement. If stress is intense, continuous and repeated, it becomes a negative phenomenon or "distress," which can lead to physical illness and psychological disorders. The frequency of common psychosomatic symptoms including sleeping problems, tension headache, chronic fatigue, palpitation etc. may be an indicator of nurses' work-related stress level. Objectives of the study were to determine psychiatric morbidity among nurses and to find its association with selected variables. The study population consisted of 1040 registered nurses working in selected medical college hospitals and government hospitals of Udupi and Mangalore districts. Descriptive survey design was used to conduct the study. Subjects were selected by using purposive sampling. Data were gathered by administering background proforma and General Health questionnaire. Severe distress was experienced by 0.9% of nurses and 5.6% had some evidence of distress. Subjects who did not have any distress were 93.5%. No significant association between psychiatric morbidity in nurses and demographic variables was observed. With regard to work variables significant association is observed between psychiatric morbidity and total years of experience (z=10.67, p=0.03) and experience in current area of work (z=9.43, p=0.02).

Method: Databases such as CINAHL, Pub Med/Medline were searched to identify the potential studies. Results: A variety of survey methods were used by the researchers. Studies also focused on various domains of QOL such as financial wellbeing, family support and community interactions, etc. and findings showed a QOL ranging from good to excellent. When vulnerable situations meet environmental hazards, disasters occur where human and natural costs could be enormous. This study aimed to explore the experiences of the victims of coastal erosion during the monsoon season. Methods Seven victims of catastrophic coastal erosion in the Kollam District of Kerala, India, were interviewed from December 2013 to February 2014. The main themes were impact, consequences and recovery. The subthemes were living in constant fear, escaping from the catastrophe; cataclysmic sea waves and their tumultuous behaviour, instant damage and destruction, the epoch of losses; agony and suffering; homelessness-helplessness-sleeplessness mixed with fear;...
