The Man of a Thousand Faces (original) (raw)

Mr. Wu [29 Oct 2007|01:28pm]
Did anyone watch this on TCM last night? I hadn't seen it before and was impressed by the make-up. Lon's characterization of the Asian characters wasn't bad and the emotional moments stood out.

Lon Chaney Collection Volume II [05 Sep 2006|02:10pm]
For those of you that have not yet heard, I recently read a little about Warner Home Video releasing "The Lon Chaney Collection Volume II". The collection will supposedly feature "He Who Gets Slapped", "Tell it to the Marines", "The Unholy Three" both the silent and talkie versions and two other not yet mentioned films. The following chat transcript is from a chat with Warner Home Video executives, held on Tuesday, February 21st on the Home Theater Forum."[PatrickMcCart] Warners.... I'd like to express my hatred for you. You've been releasing way too many classics and I can't keep up financially. I'm reduced to eating ramen. ;) Besides wanting to know when the Caddyshack II 3-disc SE comes out, are there plans for more Lon Chaney? Mainly both The Unholy Three (1925/1930) films, Tell It to the Marines, and He Who Gets Slapped. Keep up the excellent work![Warner] Seriously Patrick, we know you are a big supporter of WHV, and we thank you. Yes, there will be a LON CHANEY COLLECTION VOLUME II, with all the films you mention plus two others. UNHOLY THREE has been restored from the original camera neg."Here is a link to the full chat transcript: http://www.thedigitalbits.com/articles/022106htfchat.htmlI hope this is all true, as this would be a great collection. :)

[ mood** | calm ] I made this drawing a few nights ago. The scanner distorted it a bit. It looks a lot better normally, but it is a drawing of Lon Chaney from "The Phantom of the Opera". But I scanned in a picture and it is under the lj-cut.( Lon Chaney Keychain DrawingCollapse )**Also, keep in mind that my drawing is a keychain, so this image is blown up and does not look nearly as good.

'Phantom" DVD? [25 Feb 2006|05:50pm]
[ **mood** | hopeful ] Hi everyone. I'm new here. Lon Chaney is my favourite actor and "Phantom of the Opera" was the film that introduced me to silents. It's one of my all-time favourite movies and I'd like to buy it on DVD. I've seen a real bargain basement edition for about $10 but it was gone when I went back to buy it. Is anyone here from the Toronto area or Houston/Austin area? And can you tell me where a good place to purchase "Phantom" or any other silent would be? I know there are quite a few online but as of right now I can't purchase stuff that way. Any help is greatly appreciated! (I'd also take any help from the Western New York or Ann Arbor, MI area) :D

Hello [29 Nov 2005|02:13am]
[ **mood** | calm ] Hello,I'm new to this community, but have been a big fan of Lon Chaney's since I happened to watch "The Phantom of the Opera" on Turner Classic Movies when I was around maybe 9 (I'm 16 now). I thought he was good in the film, but once I found out how skilled he was with his make-up, when I saw "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and how far he would go and so on, he instantly became my favorite actor.Anyways, I wanted to say hello.

Newbie [28 Oct 2005|08:09pm]
Hello everyone; just joined. I'm a big fan of Chaney's work; he was indeed a genius in cinema! My favorite film of his would probably have to be Laugh Clown Laugh. Although I haven't seen all of his films, I have great interest in seeing Shadows and The Penalty in the near future. Has anyone seen the TCM documentary? It's fantastic; I could watch it again and again.I know Michael F. Blake has written 3 books on Chaney and I plan to buy all 3 soon; which one should I get first?
