Taking a shot with the Howa 1500 30-06, using the Hornady 178gr A-Max, at a corn stalk, 550 yards downrange; if it didn't hit it, it was damn close!
I think this load will be good enough for the 600 yard match. When I get to the public range, I'll try some further shots.

I had been having precision problems with this rifle, it shooting .5-2MOA and the solution seems to have been the stock. Now that I have the Boyds JRS Classic laminate rifle stock, the rifle seems to be shooting sub-moa.

I took this shot because someone on a firearms site, asked what rifle would you take this shot with; I'm the only one that choose my lever action... and it was at a lever action site.
I backed-up my tough talk with action.

Everything about this rifle is opposite of what one is supposed to want in a precision rifle, but this thing shoots wonderfully.
Howa 1500, Cast Bullet, 400 Yards

Taking a shot with the Howa 1500 30-06, using the Lee 180gr cast bullet, at a 4 inch target, 400 yards downrange; HIT!
I am starting to do better with these cast bullets, but as soon as the wind starts getting difficult, it may all fall apart. :o
It is hard to see that target, but when the smoke starts clouding the view, for some reason the target is more visible.

I've started using cast bullets in my firearms, which will cut my costs in half.
I am getting much higher velocities than what I was lead to believe I could achieve. I need to make some harder bullets as to be more potent as far as terminal ballistics; but I do like what I have now.
