"If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more." (original) (raw)

Tomorrow I am heading off to Michigan to see my neurologist. I've had chronic migraines since I was about 4 years old. I've been to a lot of doctors for them and but no one could figure out why I had them or how to stop them. Even though I live near a big city, there is not a doctor who specializes in migraines here. A couple of years ago, one of the best neurologist in the state referred me to a clinic in Michigan for migraines. Since then, I have been traveling half way across the country twice a year to get treatment. This clinic I go to is amazing-- all they do is help people with migraines. The first time I went up there, I was in the hospital for a week, had two surgeries and tried a lot of different medicines for migraines. Since then, I travel up there usually travel up there on the day before my appointment with my mom. We stay in a hotel (my favorite part-- I love HOTELS!). The next morning, I see my doctors and then fly home that evening.

A lot of great things have come out of going to this clinic-- from medicine, to people that I met there to having quality time with my mom. Even better, when I was in the hospital there, I got to see what nurses really do. My nurses there were amazing. So amazing, in fact, that they inspired me to become a nurse.

I am a little nervous to fly tomorrow. But it will be okay. :) I am excited that I get to experience some winter weather up there. Recently, it has been in the 70F or more here. Not very Christmas-y.

I will let y'all know how my adventure goes tomorrow. And-- if you have any tips for dressing in cold weather, please send them on! XOXOX.
