Just something I noticed as I was re-reading "Wasted":
It seemed although Marya was underaged that she was easily able to be in bars. For instance, when she was visiting Washington DC to decide if she wanted to go to school there she talked about being in the hotel bar, drinking screwdrivers and eating carrot and celery sticks while writing manically in her notebook.
Another example is when she met Mark; on there first "real" date, she talked about them going to dinner and "drinking alot of wine" in the restaraunt.
I wonder if she just looked THAT much older that the bartender/waiter didnt card her, or if in the eighties they were more lax about it, or what.
I dont know if this will even interest anyone else, its just something I noticed.
I just found out about Sane: Mental Illness, Addiction, and the Twelve Steps today. Has anyone else read it yet? I'm excited!
