Funcom is optimistic Dune Awakening will work on most PCs but admits Xbox Series S is ‘a challenge’ (original) (raw)

With all of the buzz Funcom has been generating about Dune: Awakening, you’d be forgiven if you thought the conversation topic well had dried up, but that’s where you’re wrong because there’s one more thing to discuss: performance.

According to Chief Product Officer Scott Junior, who spoke about the matter to VG247 at Gamescom, the survival MMO is coming out on PC first in order to help fine-tune optimization, but he also admits, “Xbox Series S is a challenge” regardless.

That’s not to suggest that the game is unoptimized, though, as Junior is also quick to point out that “powerful cards from a few years ago should be able to run the game” from both a visual perspective and a game scale perspective, while the next beta test hopes to put that to the proof. “I don’t think we’ve released our min-spec yet. […] But it will still perform well on hardware that’s years and years old. We’ll be able to do it!” he suggests.
