ACU's LiveJournal (original) (raw)
This morning (Tuesday, July 22), Stan and I met with Shirley. Main topics included the officer situation, office regulations, activities, and club promotion. So yeah. Lots of stuff. Yay.
As for the officers, the current are as follows:
Stan - President
Valerie - Vice President
Katrina - Secretary/Treasurer
We are aiming for having four officers. Basically, at this point, whomever gets the fourth officer position (secretary) is up to Shirley's final word (as far as I understand). The whole GPA thing. And yes, the minimum is 2.5 or higher. As for current officers and the fourth (provided we get one in a timely manner), there is a mandatory Officers Training thing going on at MCC on August 15 that we are all required to attend.
As for a brief explanation of why everyone got kicked - MCC is becoming a Nazi regime when it comes to anything that has to do with the goings-on in the new Campus Center. This is due to the increased amount of attention the building is now getting (because, ya know, it's uber). Hence, Doug Brown is being overly anal about appearances and sticking to all the rules and guidelines. This is why the office came into major play during the meeting.
Our office was not taken from us, as we had thought. Shirley is, indeed, watching out for our little geek butts. She gave us a different office, of which is much bigger than last year's and decently bigger than the other one we thought we were getting. The ACU is now located in room 138E, near the photo ID office (basically, the other end of that funky hallway). So yeah.
As for office regulations... According to Doug Brown, the office is no longer to be a place to just "hang out." Again, due to the increased attention and frequent tours of the building. If you are to be in the office, you are to be doing something club-related, or homework. Also, there are not to be uber amounts of people in the office anymore, the door must always be open, and we have to have established office hours. This means that there will be no more video games everyday (we are going to reduce that to once a week) and we must, MUST keep the volume down. If there are too many people in the office, don't come in.
Stan and I are going to be drafting up a set of more detailed and serious office rules. Major focuses will be on making sure people go to class, limited amount of people in the office, video game policy, behavior, etc., etc. When those are cleared up, they will be posted here.
As for activities and promoting for new members, Shirley is very concerned about this. As is our new advisor, Lorraine. Plans are going to be for an uber activity day both semesters, the fall & spring flings, a seminar program (where we teach basic computer skills), game tourneys, and movie nights. This will be our first order of business when school starts up again. We need to be uber and start early on club activities.
But yeah... that's pretty much it for now. If I've missed anything important I'll post again or in a comment in addition to this one. So yeah. Have fun and enjoy the rest of your summer; we'll keep you posted about ACUv2.0.
