It focused the discussion on differences among entrepreneurs and among their ventures, rather than on the differences between entrepreneurs and non-entrepreneurs. The framework was meant to provide a robust format for analysis and understanding of the variables of venture creation and their inter-relationships. Researchers have since applied the framework to explore several contemporary research themes like corporate, social, academic and international entrepreneurship. In the process, they have added new sub-dimensions to the framework and added depth to existing ones. This chapter discusses the ways in which researchers post-Gartner have used the framework and added value to it.

It presents the current context about industry 4.0 and digitized workplaces. It then describes the case of designing the curriculum for a learning program on this theme, the responses received from participants and facilitators and conclusions that can be drawn from the responses.FindingsThe findings indicate that digital workplaces present challenges such as fragmentation of work, a resultant disconnect between team members, an uncertainty about assessment of efforts as well as assessment of output. Facilitation by coaches, extensive documentation, knowledge sharing, empathy and an alignment to shared goals mitigate these challenges to some extent. Facilitation also enables the participants to experience the true benefits of technology a...

This research investigates the effect of interactions among venture team members and the absorptive capacity of the organisation on the performance of the venture. The interaction factors investigated are task conflict, relationship conflict, process conflict, cohesion and strategic consensus. Through a survey administered to 124 executives working in internal corporate ventures across 14 industries, the research concluded that conflict has a negative association with venture performance. Cohesion and strategic consensus have a positive association with venture performance. The absorptive capacity of the organisation has a mediating effect on the strategic consensus-performance relationship. A multi-group analysis shows that for venture team members, the strongest relationship is between process and relationship conflict; for team leaders, the strongest relationship is between task and relationship conflict. The findings contribute to an understanding of determinants of venture performance.

Venture team members use existing knowledge from within the organisation, and new knowledge from clients, and the marketplace, to be able to do this. The venture team experiences conflict and cohesion due to interpersonal and work related reasons. This research surveys 235 members of internal venture teams to explore the relationships between these team factors and the absorptive capacity of the venture. Team conflict and team cohesion are found to influence absorptive capacity in the team, which in turn affects the performance of the venture.

It also studies the relationship amongst team composition, the managerial or interpersonal conflicts and cohesion amongst the team members. The paper presents a review of extant literature, develops hypothesis to test the constructs and proposes a model for testing the relationship amongst team composition, conflicts and cohesion and their effect on performance of NVTs. The scope of the paper is related to Indian software firms based NVTs which take their existing products to new markets. The paper adds value to the present literature by exploring the above dimensions in detail and proposing a model to test the effect of these dimensions on the performance of NVTs that can be tested in a future research.

Scholars agree five factors lead to humanizing organizations. This study dwells upon one factor – employee strengths at work (ESAW) – problematizes, identifies the gap in its conceptualization, deploys critical social systems theory and reconceptualizes the construct of ESAW by taking key contextual factors into consideration. Thereafter, this study aims to develop a conceptual model and makes propositions related to the mediating effects of ESAW on the association of leadership style and employee performance. ABSTRACT In today’s competitive business world, managing a knowledge worker has become complex as... more ABSTRACT In today’s competitive business world, managing a knowledge worker has become complex as companies recruit people from across cultures, nationalities and gender in rather a seamless way. Generally, most of the employees who are hired have the necessary technical prerequisites, conceptual skills and to some extent human skills too. However, it is observed that people who join the organizations have generally all the needs fulfilled in the Maslow’s need hierarchy, i.e., the physiological needs, social needs, safety needs, self-esteem needs barring the need of self-actualization. It is the need for self-actualization which plays an important role in the career growth of an employee, especially in the present scenario. Another factor responsible for this is the amount and variety of choice available at their disposal, be it either in terms of careers, people or even relationships. Therefore, in order to understand and support the real worth of an individual, to enable him to understand himself better in order to understand others in a better way, it is the responsibility of the trainers to understand various psychological patterns of behavior of an individual. This paper focuses on neuro-linguistic programming, a tool that recognizes various psycho-behavioral patterns of an individual.

Introduction In today's dynamic business environment, where competitive advantages cannot be easi... more Introduction In today's dynamic business environment, where competitive advantages cannot be easily sustained, organizations need to be agile, creative and ready to take-up new challenges. This is all the more important for established organizations who often deny the rise of competition or don't know what to do to sustain their business and market share. One such solution to set the organisation on a growth path is innovation. Again every organisation claims to be innovative, yet whether they are really able to follow the path of innovation or not makes the difference in today's business environment. For this, first of all organizations need to develop a culture of innovation in the organisation in order to at least open the organisation internally before going to open the organizational boundaries to the external people. Right from the time when top management develops a will to follow the path of innovation for growth, organizations can do strategic innovations that are not limited to R&D intensive product or process innovations. It becomes all the more important for large organizations in the wake of collapsing national boundaries for business and a strong competition from new entrants in the market who defy the notion of learning curves by entering into the market with a global, lean and agile outlook since inception Objectives • To develop an understanding of various concepts and misconceptions around innovation • To let the participants assess themselves where their organisations stand at present in terms of innovation and how to improve upon the weak areas in order to compete in today's Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Uncertain (VUCA) world • To understand and learn some techniques of how to develop a culture of innovation in organisations

" Primarily, it is a technique of influencing the conscious thought and action by working upon the unconscious thought and action. It fundamentally helps people to change themselves by teaching them to program their brains. It is a user manual of our brain and is also referred to as 'Software for the Brain'. It unknowingly works on the unconscious mind, constantly influencing the conscious thought and action. In sum, it is a subjective experience. NLP is applied in various fields ranging from very delicate areas like clinical psychology to some flashy fields like sales training. On one hand, it can be used by the doctors to heal their patients suffering from various psychological ailments, on the other hand it can be used to improve the selling/customer service or client management skills of the salespersons by establishing a rapport with the customer instantaneously. By understanding the programming of the brain, NLP can help relieve various types of stress, provide a good environment for creativity or brainstorming at work, team building, and motivating people to perform well by boosting their confidence through realization of self and others. There are various types of interventions possible through NLP. Today's managers can use these interventions in a strategic manner to place the right person at the right place, change passive acceptance to active ownership, achieve sales, improve customer satisfaction and execute right psychological interventions to boost creativity and motivation of self and others. Objectives After going through this management development programme, the participants would be able to: • Recognize the congruent and incongruent states of people whom they guide and be able to facilitate the appropriate emotional state for any given situation. • Identify with those that they guide or coach in such a way that they create a climate of trust, respect, and confidence to achieve corporate goals. • Build rapport as a lifestyle with whomever they come in contact in whatever context. • Give the feedback in such a way that it is accepted and leads to improved performance. • Have a compelling outcome or vision for themselves at all times. • Effectively use NLP interventions strategically in various situations.

Even significantly large non-public start-ups also fall prey of this phenomena. For this paper, interviews were conducted with 20 owners of such start-ups to find out what were the motivations to scale-up and sell their ventures and not going for a sustainable enterprise. Was it an emerging market phenomenon, or it was a low risk model of wealth creation for the individual or were there some other reasons?
