Going to Burning Man this year??
After years of hiatus due to kidlets etc, I think I'm going just for the weekend...... but I'm looking forward to it! I will probably fly in to San Francisco and do a ride share from there if anyone needs a ride from San Fran on a Friday.
This was kind of last minute and I'm so unprepared!!
Anyone have any fabulous art projects/theme camps etc they're working on??

hey everyone!! last year's burning man was our first time. we already have our tickets for this year. we are going to fly out and pick up a rv in las vegas. we are at present trying to get our design for our shade structure to come together, before we go to element and then transformus. we have just found out that i'm four and a half weeks pregnant. we are still planning on going. i was just wondering if anyone has any advice (besides don't go) that they think would helpful. i also have been trying to come up with transportation inside of black rock city. i would like some thing like this, but i don't want to spent $1500 on a bike. so far i don't see any way around it. me and my man are not mechanically inclined so i don't see us having any success in building something unless someone give us explicit instructions. does anyone know of a good book i can read to get some info on building mutant electric bikes for dummies?

- The deadline for THEME CAMP submissions is rapidly approaching!
Carpe Diem. NOW is the time! - fill out your questionnaire. Draft your
camp map and cleanup plan and mail them to us immediately thereafter.
Remember, the deadline for having all this in is June 30th, 2005 11:59

You can go here
to find out more about creating your Theme Camp or Village or check this link to make sure you've got all the necessary submission pieces. Take
special note of the map requirements.
Click here if you're already in the know and want to go straight to the
registration form. It will take you approximately 30 minutes to fill it

We have provided a PDF version of the Theme Camp questionnaire for this
purpose).
And, if you're not sure how to write up a clean up plan, here's a handy guide .
Don't lose your opportunity to have your Theme Camp placed on the
Playa.

2:08PM - Event Notice!!
Due to a series of unfortunate circumstances..........our camp will not be attending Burning Man this year....and so the Meet n' Greet event is being cancelled.
However..........I am planning on keeping the community open for those who would like to either:
- plan an event(s) such as a meet n' greet for LJ'ers on the playa
or
- Meet folks on LJ before getting to the playa.........
-offer suggestions, tips, traveling plans.......whatever - for B-Man
So sorry for the sad news folks.........hopefully things will work better next year.
I know we're sad b/c we've been looking forward to this for a while (well, pretty much since last year!).

2:02AM - travel suggestions
Our travel group (4) from Chicago is planning on renting an SUV to drive out to B-Man this year - we rented one last year but it was a smallish one and wasn't nearly big enough - and we're bringing more camp equipment this year - does anyone have suggestions on :
1 - where rent a big SUV without going broke??
or
2 - how else to transport all our camp gear out there so we aren't buring so much fuel or money??
How do you guys do it? Any suggestions/ideas would be appreciated!! Thanks!
**it seems every year that we go we end up bringing more gear/costumes/structures, etc.......

12:55PM - Sites for goggles
Anyone know of a good website to get decent goggles for B-Man? I've been looking on e-bay but was wondering if there were other ideas out there that I wasn't thinking of? I think I ended up with swimming goggles last year - was hoping for ski goggles this year.
Something similar to this:
Goggles
Is it sad that I keep thinking "Google" everytime I type goggle? :-/
Current mood: curious

6:22PM - Welcome!!
I thought it would be neat to be able to chat with LJ folks we'd like to meet up with on the playa before we got there. So - this is a 'one time event' journal - just for the Love Bites cocktail party on Wednesday night at Burning Man!
Want to share stories? How many burns have you been to?? Who are you camping this year?? Are you hitting the Wal-Mart in Winnemuca before heading out to BRC like we always do?? (b/c we forget so much stuff!!)
How long's your drive?
:::big hugs;::: 184 days till the man burns!! Not much time!! Get those supplies ready!
