Avaya web.alive is a browser plug-in that integrates with your local network, security and business software tools. Knowledge flows freely-from instructor to students, peer to peer,
coach to team-all while presentations and materials display. MellaniuM is leveraging web.alive to be capable of both importing all 3D formats with photorealistic textures and laser scanned items and monuments for archaeologicaland educational use.

In addition MellaniuM has successfully developed an application for utilizing all the archaeological virtual assets developed in 3D Studio Max over the past several years. It is possible therefore to create interactive environments of archaeological significance which can be accessed through the Internet and available to up to 40 participants. This paper will be accompanied by a live demonstration of networked PC's to illustrate the collaborative educational potential of this application

This need is especially acute in engineering, manufacturing, and certain military applications. This paper considers modeling a copper smelter and the refractory linings of such smelters for copper production. Virtual worlds enable teams of engineers, managers, and customers to collaboratively view a copper smelter during design and/or deployment.
