Influencer says dating masculine men turned her from ‘plain Jane’ to 10/10

An influencer claims that dating masculine men turned her from a ‘plain Jane’ into a 10 out of 10.

Hunter Vaughn, 28, says she spent much of her teenage years identifying as a feminist but gradually changed her views after becoming attracted to ambitious, masculine men who prioritised self-improvement.

The Massachusetts native says the shift not only changed what she looked for in a partner, but also inspired her to become more attractive.

‘I went from a plain Jane to a 10 out of 10,’ she said.

‘I became healthier, happier and much more confident in myself.’

Hunter says she was drawn to men who were constantly striving to improve themselves and found their mindset eventually rubbed off on her.

‘The men I liked were always working on themselves,’ she said.

‘They had goals, they were ambitious and they were disciplined.

‘Being around people like that made me want to become better too.’

The influencer said advice she was given during her childhood about finding a man to take care of her never sat right with her.

‘I was always told to find a man to take care of me,’ she said.

‘But I didn’t see the same people working on themselves and I didn’t see the kind of relationships that I wanted for myself.

‘I remember thinking, “why would I follow that advice?”‘

Instead, Hunter says she became focused on what she could bring to a relationship rather than what she could get out of one.

‘I go for high-value men and I try to match that by becoming a high-value woman,’ she said.

‘I’m going to work on me, you’re going to work on you and we’re both going to work on becoming better people.’

Hunter believes too many relationships fail because one person ends up carrying all the responsibility while receiving little in return.

‘Both people need to provide value,’ she said.

‘It doesn’t matter whether that’s financially, emotionally or through supporting the household.

‘When one person is doing everything and the other person isn’t contributing, it builds resentment.’

While she describes herself as attracted to traditional men, Hunter says she has no issue with modern relationships as long as both partners are contributing.

‘There’s nothing wrong with both people providing,’ she said.

‘There’s also nothing wrong with a traditional relationship where one person is working and the other is looking after the home and children.

‘What matters is that both people are bringing value to the relationship.’

Looking back, Hunter says the biggest change wasn’t physical but mental.

‘It changed my mindset completely,’ she said.

‘I take better care of myself, I’m more confident and I’m much happier with who I am today.

‘When you’re around people who push themselves to be better every day, it encourages you to do the same.’
