Parents were intervened tenderly to know their role for the divorce on their children and to reveal the influence of divorce on the social behavior of their divorced children. Islamic laws were revitalized desperately in order to know the ways of divorce. Families of divorced respondent were intervened as to know the blow of divorce on them and the impact of divorce on the society of the couples was also elucidated. The primary data for the study was collected from the district Baramulla of Jammu and Kashmir (India), the district is geographically over 4588 sqkms. An interview schedule of (n=300) divorced respondents comprising of 3–5 point scaling was selected for this proposed research. The data was collected with the help of an interview schedule accordingly.this study is based upon exploratory research design. Our findings revealed different views of divorced respondents which led to different causes of divorce among the Muslims in Kashmir. One of the reasons was the lack of education among respondents by which it was stiff enough for them to know the impact of divorce on their children, family and society. Sometimes the results depicted that misunderstanding between the couple was the reason for divorce. Extramarital affairs, dowry, early marriage, carelessness, improper economic management and bad luck of either spouse were also exposed to be the root cause of divorce. A few of the questions were concerning Eros related, as for the purpose of Physico and some Thanatos related results have been also collected over there. Divorce attitudes appear to be related to people's different assessment and opinion regarding their partner. Most often the children of either divorced spouse were affected which led their astray. It was also concluded that divorce affected life of family members and divorced respondent itself both physically and mentally.

In this paper some sociological insights and clarifications have been offered. For the medieval period the nature of divorce has been examined in the context of the Arab societies. For the contemporary period the data have been collected from rural and urban areas of the Kashmir valley. In this paper an attempt has been made to examine the nature of divorce particularly from women's point of view and a feminist perspective. The understanding of the societies in medieval and contemporary period and the interpretation offered, suggested that even during the earlier times the Muslim women have not expected their subjugation in the male dominated or patriarchal society. Our understanding of Muslim women highlights the facts that they were able to develop cretin mechanisms which continuously challenged the male dominance. However, in the case of Kashmir valley the Muslim women have challenged the patriarchal system in their own way. Their education and limited new job opportunities have in fact led towards their empowerment. In the case of Medieval Arab societies, especially in the case of the Mamluk societies the women had a sufficient economic base to get divorce, but in the case of Muslim women in Kashmir they have to fallback upon their parental families for the support. It is concluded that the study of medieval Mamluk societies of Arab countries have helped us in the understanding of the problems of divorce among the women of Kashmir. Some interpretations to understand the problems of divorce for the women from the feminist perspectives have also been offered here. The presentation of case-studies also explains the in-depth understanding of the divorced women over there.

They have helped in the sustenance and maintenance of society on the one hand, and provided change and dynamism on the other. The adaptability or adjustment of these institutions to the social integration and social change has been a crucial issue to many social thinkers and sociological writings. Given the present state of rapid transformation due to processes of modernization and globalization, family and marriage institutions are witnessing significant changes leading to new trends and patterns. In India, particularly in the northwest region, such changes have several causes and consequences. The economic state of the region, new developments, spread of education, urbanization, expansion of cities, inflow of migrants, impact of media and communication technology, among others; have been important reasons for the recent changes. Impact of these on the structure of the family, intra and inter family relations, kinship networks and community ties, age and gender relations has been critical. The implications and consequences of such changes can be seen in both positive and negative effects on family and marriage. On the positive side there are improvements in education, job opportunities, choices in selecting mate and living of healthy and prosperous life; while on the other side one finds increasing cases of alienation, rising consumerism, declining joint family values, divorce or desertion, increase in suicide rate and violence in family and society. In short, family and marriage as social institutions are witnessing vast changes that need to be captured.
