Egypt's historic hotels are the oldest hotels constructed in Egypt and have a distinct architectu... more Egypt's historic hotels are the oldest hotels constructed in Egypt and have a distinct architectural style. These hotels have attracted famous personalities throughout the ages, and have become a favourite over the years such as Sir Winston Churchill, Princess Diana and Agatha Christie. The historic hotels must be preserved as one of the state assets. The purpose of this paper is to explore the brand image of Egypt's historic hotels. To achieve this aim, content analysis was used to analyse reviews on the TripAdvisor site, aided by NVivo 10 software. Overall, 686 reviews were used in this research. The most frequently occurring words in the reviews were related to rooms, location, service, food and beverages, and history. Most of the adjectives used in reference to the historical hotels in Egypt were positive, including great, good, beautiful, lovely, nice, amazing, excellent, best, and well. These positive adjectives occurred 2742 times. The historical background of these hotels is one of the critical topics that come up in the reviews. The management of historic hotels should focus on maintaining the buildings and furniture by employing restoration specialists. The front office employees clearly need more training in check in and check out procedures so as to perform effectively.

This paper addresses the self-assessment, the future careers, and the employment obstacles of und... more This paper addresses the self-assessment, the future careers, and the employment obstacles of undergraduates of Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, Minia University. A quantitative method is used to collect the required data. The sample consisted of 264 undergraduates; all of them were in the final year. The researcher tested five hypotheses to identify the impact of the academic department, demographics, undergraduates' skills, on the undergraduates' future career choices and to declare the statistically significant differences of future career choices between the undergraduates according to the academic department and the demographics. The researcher used SPSS V. 16.0 to analyze data, and statistical analysis included Cronbach's alpha, linear regression, multiple regression, T-test, analysis of variance, and multi comparisons (LSD). Empirical findings showed that most of the respondents (65.5%) see that the rate of the potential employment of their degree is very poor and poor, 49.7% of them see that they can't talk and write English well, 31.8% of the respondents plan to have career in travel agents and flight companies, and 47% of the undergraduates believed that political conditions is the obstacle will face them to have their future careers. The gender, academic department, professional and practical skills have significant influence on future career choices of undergraduates of Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, Minia University.

This paper examines the effect of changing management on employees in Egyptian hotels. A quantita... more This paper examines the effect of changing management on employees in Egyptian hotels. A quantitative method is used to collect the required data. The sample consisted of 5 hotels; all of these hotels changed the management company to another one. The research was conducted by surveying 46 employees of food and beverage employees in these hotels. The researchers tested four hypotheses to identify the impact of changing process on the employees' satisfaction, the relations between employees, employees' loyalty, and the employees' performance. SPSS V. 15.0 is used to analyze data, and statistical analysis included Cronbach's alpha and multiple regression analysis. Empirical findings showed that psychological support and equality between the employees have an influence significantly on employees' satisfaction, equality and change of job behaviour have an influence significantly on the relations between employees, Equality and psychological support have an influence significantly on employees' loyalty, and change of job behaviour and equality between the employees have an influence significantly on the employees' performance.

This paper explores the efforts of general trade union of hotels and tourism workers (GTUHTW) in ... more This paper explores the efforts of general trade union of hotels and tourism workers (GTUHTW) in the light of 2011 Egyptian revolution. Mixed methods are used to collect the data of this research. An interview was conducted with the director of the GTUHTW, a mixed type questionnaire was conducted with the managers of human resource departments. The sample consists of 73 hotels, all of these hotels are four and five star hotels. There are three groups of the policies adopted by the hotels in response to the 2011 Egyptian revolution as follows: policies adopted by all of the sample (recruitment freeze, probationary staff not transferred to full time contracts, and non-renewal of temporary contracts), policies adopted by some of hotels in the sample (compulsory redundancy, unpaid holiday, reduced training, and forgo bonus pay), and policies that didn't adopted by all of hotels in the sample (pay freeze, pay cut -management, and pay cut -other staff). There is no significance to the collective agreements as the base of these adopted policies. All hotels of the sample strongly disagree or disagree that the General Trade Union of Hotels and Tourism Workers and the Egyptian government support the employees in response to the 2011 Egyptian revolution.

The Internet may be the most important development of the last years for many independent hotels.... more The Internet may be the most important development of the last years for many independent hotels. Electronically generated sales are the only viable tools to compete with franchised hotels. Many independent hoteliers think that volume electronic sales are out of reach, too costly, and too complicated to implement. So, the purpose of this study is to identify the impact of E-trust services that presented by independent hotels' websites on their guests' behavior intention. The research was conducted by surveying 171 independent hotels' guests in Egypt. The findings revealed that security concerns and perceived usefulness contribute to predict behavior intention. No statistically significant differences between the respondents according to the nationality. There are statistically significant relationships, positive correlation between trust in Internet shopping, E-trust services, and behavioral intention of the sample.

The researcher tested seven hypotheses to identify the effect of socioeconomic attributes, price importance, and understanding of hotel pricing process on perceived fairness, then on word-of-mouth, intention to complain, and intention to return. The research collected 233 usable responses, used SPSS V. 15.0 to analyze data, and it included descriptive analysis, Pearson's correlation coefficient, T-test, analysis of variance, and multiple regression analysis. Empirical findings showed that age had a significant contribution in predicting price importance for respondents, marital status, occupation, monthly income, and age had a significant contribution in predicting perceived fairness. The researcher found that there was a significant contribution of Understanding of hotel pricing process, price importance, and perceived fairness in predicting intention to complain, and there was a significant contribution of price importance in predicting intention to return.
