These interactions are impacted by the country's cultural history and the structure of rules and ideologies. As businesses explore the opportunities to expand their operations globally and penetrate new markets, they are faced with many risks and challenges. One major risk that international businesses face is corruption. Throughout this paper, we will address and examine corruption as it pertains to religion and cultural dimensions and capture its economic impacts.

We assessed ‘preferred leadership style’ from the perspective of the follower. The study aimed at exploring the variations in the preference for leadership styles across selected industries, namely the food/beverage industry, the retail industry, and the financial industry. Novelty: Leadership styles and perspectives have been investigated from divergent angles; but the preferred leadership styles have not been explored adequately across industries. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to develop a reliable and valid field survey research instru... more Purpose The purpose of this paper is to develop a reliable and valid field survey research instrument to assess national cultural cognitive templates of preferred leader behaviour dimensions to facilitate education, development, and training of managerial leaders operating across diverse organisations. Design/methodology/approach The study consists of focus group evaluations of the validity and the translations to local languages of a survey instrument assessing leader behaviour preferences in business organisations. Findings The studies find that the survey instrument and its translations are valid and reliable for assessing preferred leader behaviour across national cultures. The length of the survey is problematic, and a new project is underway to produce a shorter version with equivalent reliability and validity. PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to address issues relating to the United Nations Millennium D... more PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to address issues relating to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (UNMDG) in the Middle East, analysing socio‐cultural issues having direct relevance to the region's progress toward “Promote Gender Equality and Empower Women”.Design/methodology/approachThe authors employ meta‐analyses with data from the United Nations, the Arab Human Development Report, and various sources of measurement of national means for Hofstede's five‐dimensional model of cultural value.FindingsThe authors find that the percentage of women in employment, excluding the agricultural sector, in their sample of Middle East countries has declined since 2000, while in the samples of other Muslim‐majority and all other countries the percentage employed has increased.Research limitations/implicationsThe limitations of the authors' research are that complete sets of data for women in employment are not available for all years for all countries in their sample...

This study explores the cultural factors that act as antecedents to women serving on boards of di... more This study explores the cultural factors that act as antecedents to women serving on boards of directors all over the world.We extend the theory proposed by several researchers before (e.g., Warner-Soderholm et al., 2016; St Onge & Magnan, 2013). We will explore relationships proffered by various researchers while also using more robust data and a larger sample. We will statistically examine relationships between cultural factors, political empowerment, institutional factors, gender equality scores, paid maternity leave, paid paternity leave, universal suffrage, and women on boards. Our sample of 56 countries was collected Catalyst, the World Economy Forum, and the World Bank in 2015. We use cultural factors score of House et al. (2004). After running regressions, the results of our study indicate that Gender equality positively impacts shares of women on boards, mediated though women’s political empowerment and the proportion of seats held by women in parliament. Malaysians have begun to realize how important it is to sustain the country‘s environment. There has
been an increasing concern among individuals, business organizations, societies, and estates. This
study aims to understand the extent of commitment by consumers toward protecting and preserving the
environment through product usage and disposal activities and to analyze how much this concern for
environmental protection influences purchasing decisions. There is a need to develop guidelines for
consumers and organizations on the most effective ways to protect and preserve the environment.

political environment, and potential for investment in the land of the rising sun. At the crossroads
between the East and West, Japan is positioned to reap tremendous rewards as the East Asian
economic community booms. However, it will have to overcome obstacles associated with its
decreasing population, a new political party in power, and continuing global economic
uncertainty. Will Japan’s world-renowned innovation and business sophistication be enough to
pull it out of this recession? With its “Lost Decade” in recent memory, Japan will have to
strengthen its ties with China to avoid being left in China’s economic shadow.

working model to identify factors which influence employee response toward changes in the
organization. Change issues include re-structuring; merger and acquisition; transfers, lateral
moves and hiring; etc. This study identifies a workable model to allow management within
organizations undergoing change and transformation to predict the response of its employees
with respect to the identified factors. The resulting instrument is proven to be highly reliable and
will assist organizations managing change initiatives.

This paper studies the ethical response behavior of Indian consumers. Data was collected from 37... more This paper studies the ethical response behavior of Indian consumers. Data was collected
from 374 respondents using a questionnaire survey covering issues on the environment and
marketing of products. The study reveals that respondent awareness of the extent of damage
done as a result of economic activity is steadily growing. Consumers are becoming conscious of
adverse affects and are willing to pay more for eco-friendly products. Further, it is evident from
this study that Asian Indians are aware and concerned about the environmental conditions but the
commitment level to take proactive individual actions is moderate.

This research explores employee response toward change initiatives in order to create a working ... more This research explores employee response toward change initiatives in order to create a
working model to identify factors which influence employee response toward changes in the
organization. Change issues include re-structuring; merger and acquisition; transfers, lateral
moves and hiring; etc. This study identifies a workable model to allow management within
organizations undergoing change and transformation to predict the response of its employees
with respect to the identified factors. The resulting instrument is proven to be highly reliable and
will assist organizations managing change initiatives.

This paper studies the ethical response behavior of Indian consumers. Data was collected from 37... more This paper studies the ethical response behavior of Indian consumers. Data was collected
from 374 respondents using a questionnaire survey covering issues on the environment and
marketing of products. The study reveals that respondent awareness of the extent of damage
done as a result of economic activity is steadily growing. Consumers are becoming conscious of
adverse affects and are willing to pay more for eco-friendly products. Further, it is evident from
this study that Asian Indians are aware and concerned about the environmental conditions but the
commitment level to take proactive individual actions is moderate.
