UFC DC bonuses: Of course that twister earned Bryce Mitchell $50k (original) (raw)

WASHINGTON – Bryce Mitchell, Makhmud Muradov, Rob Font and Ricky Simon collected $50,000 bonuses at Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 7 event.

Mitchell and Muradov were given “Performance of the Night” awards, while Font and Simon shared in “Fight of the Night” honors. UFC officials announced the winners following the event, which took place at Capital One Arena and aired on ESPN following early prelims on ESPN+.

Mitchell (12-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) remained undefeated in his professional career, scoring just the second twister submission in UFC history, joining Chan Sung Jung as the only two men to pull off the move. Mitchell’s earned him a victory over Matt Sayles and an extra $50,000.

Muradov (24-6 MMA, 2-0 UFC) earned his extra income in the first fight of the night, showing slick striking against a gritty Trevor Smith before finally closing the show in the third round with a devastating finish that left “Hot Sauce” out cold and his mouthpiece flying through the air.

Meanwhile, Font (17-4 MMA, 7-3 UFC) and Simon (15-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) clashed in a key bantamweight matchup on the main card. It was Simon’s wrestling that was most effective early, but Font showed slick striking and impressive grappling of his own, as well, en route to battling back for a decision win. While Font walked away with the win, both fighters took home an extra $50,000.
