Description
From www.kacicodance.org
"We are gearing up for our two October 13th performances at the Folly Theater. We are so excited to have Contemporary Dance Fort Worth as our guests bringing their style of contemporary dance to Kansas City. We are collaborating on a dance long distance that will premiere at the Folly, along with our new work, Freedom (of Speech).
The apprentice company performs at 1:30 and 7:30 and a silent auction begins at 6:30pm in the lobby.
And yes, Elton John is performing at the new Sprint Center that same day. So we expect to have anyone and everyone who does not have a ticket to Elton John in our audience at the Folly. Spread the word and help us fill the Folly supporting the arts created here in Kansas City. Note: Parking will be difficult so allow some extra time to get to the Folly."

The Dancer Who Wore Sneakers translates the personal challenge of being a dancer whose feet can’t tolerate impact into the more universal theme of transcending limitations. 25 dancers and actors explore the nature of damage and seek liberation from that which would stop us from dancing freely. This evocative evening, set against a backdrop of MRI projections, features dance and theater accompanied by an original score.

Hullo and how do you do?
So you may ask what is it that is causing me to post when I haven't done so in such a long time?
Well, my current plans for thus summer are mainly consisting of going to New York and studying/getting the heck outa Dodge!
So I was just wondering if anyone out there is looking to sublet, say because you'll be out of town on tour or something, or if you know of anyone who is. Any burrough (spl?) is fine, really.
I don't have dates nailed down yet. It partly depends on how this sublet thing works out. Anytime between mid-May and mid-August is fabulous.
So, please feel more than free to respond to this!
thanks.

The full story OKay, for those of you who read my last post about my choreographic woes, here's the full background.
Earlier this year I had an awesome idea for a modern piece and got the go-ahead to set it on a company of dance students. I put my whole heart and soul into it--not to mention TIME--....
....
....
... and the AD dropped it from the rep. It did not get a premiere. They dancers didn't even learn the entire thing. I was...am!...crushed. Instead they told me that I have to make a beginner-level ballet dance instead, and I'm not even allowed to start that until the summer (I started working my modern piece in November). I'm at a loss, really and truly. I don't think anything other loss in my career has caused me quite this much pain.
Anyone else been through this?
Likewise, I'm seriously considering to tell that company where they can put that beginnger ballet dance they asked me to make and not continuing to work for them. Input?

What's missing? Yes, there is something missing in my life. If I had it, my life would be complete...but I don't, so it isn't. Here's a brief list:
1. My choreography. Oh, Lordy, my choreography. In particular a modern piece whose name began with a D that was set to the music of The Velvet Underground. There are other pieces, too, that are stage-free, but this one in particular weighs heavily on my heart.
2. The ability to set my choreography on a group of dancers and
know
that it will be performed. Keyword here is
my
choreography, meaning pieces that
I
want to create.
3. My choreo---oh, wait, I think i said that already.
Okay, now that I've said that, I'm going to go scream.
Input?

Open Call ! To any dancers in the New York City area --
I am very interested in workshopping and premiering a piece or two over the next two months and from there possibly forming a company to continue performing like this (and above and beyond) through out the year. I am looking for some new dancers with somewhat flexible schedules to join me ...
