A group of 45 senior tourism educators and industry experts came together for a summit at Modul University, Vienna, Austria to discuss how tourism education needs to adapt to significant societal and industry changes. The theme of the summit was how to build the capacity for tourism students to lead the industry into the future as it faces increasing pressures for responsibility and stewardship. This paper discusses the pre-summit and summit processes and their outcomes, and explains future plans for this Tourism Education Futures Initiative (TEFI). Among other outcomes was a listing of values that could create the foundation for future tourism education programs, and also five categories of skills that participants felt would be important for students of the future to master. These are destination stewardship skills, political skills, ethical skills, enhanced human resource skills, and dynamic business skills.

Following from this understanding, three conceptual models are proposed to examine tourists' choice of travel destination recommendation systems (TDRSs): (i) tourists' attitude towards using a TDRS is conceptualized as a function of the destination recommended, the perceived usefulness and the level of enjoyment of the system; (ii) tourists' choice to use a TDRS is determined by their attitudes towards the system, the features of the system and the features of other destination choice channels; and (iii) the destination choice process when using a TDRS is described as an iterative process involving two sequential steps that are repeated until a destination is selected. Empirical evidence indicat...

These correlations are measured with increasing values of a gap in pseudorapidity, from no gap at midrapidity to a separation of 1.6 units (|η| = 0.8). For the highest energy, central A+A collisions, the forward-backward correlation strength maintains a constant value across the measurement region. In peripheral collisions, at lower energies, and in pp data, the maximum appears at midrapidity. This result may indicate the possible formation of high density matter for central A+A collisions at √ s NN = 200 GeV.

The study investigated whether it is reasonable to accommodate different trip-planning styles that can be used as a basic guideline for an automatic recommendation system. Six decision styles were identified by the study. Implications for the construction of travel recommender systems are discussed under the following headings: sub-decisions and phasing; information sources; personality; personalization; and designing a consumer-oriented destination recommendation system.

Dietorecs has been designed by incorporating a human decision model that stresses individual differences in decision styles. Dietorecs supports decision styles by means of an adaptive behavior which is learned exploiting a case base of recommendation sessions that are stored by the systems. Users can enter the system through three main functional doors that fit groups of decision styles, but they can eventually switch the type of support required. The dialogue (questions) is personalized using both the user model (cases) and statistics over the data available in the virtual catalogues provided by two DMOs.

However, this valuable information can not be compared as each entity uses different survey designs and therefore obtains heterogeneous data. Hence, extensive data is available but wise use of this data is impossible unless the information is harmonized in a comprehensive database. In this paper a comparable database is suggested that serves as a marketing information system and offers new opportunities for analyzing data from different sources. It discusses various comparability problems derived from seven European visitor surveys and shows how to harmonize heterogeneous data. Final result is the proposal of a quantitative model which integrates guest survey data from several European cities and allows access to a comprehensive database via the Internet.
