Flag requirements

Design

The Qatari flag should be a horizontal rectangle consisting of two colours, ‘Al Adam’ (maroon) and white. When the flag is raised from the outside, the ‘Al Adam’ colour is free, and the white colour is the side that is adjacent to the mast. Between the two colours, there are nine isosceles triangles, so that the base of the triangles is in the white area facing the flag hoist, while their heads are located in the ‘Al Adam’ part towards the flag itself.

Colours

Qatar’s flag consists of two colours: white and ‘Al Adam’ (maroon) (Pantone # 1955 C).

Emblem of the State of Qatar

The emblem of the State of Qatar carries a set of meanings and values with different geographical and cultural dimensions. It expresses the meeting of wildlife with marine life in interaction and harmony. Where the palm represents generosity and pride, the Arabic swords with their originality and sharpness invoke pride and protection of the oppressed.

The emblem is made up of the four key elements of Qatar’s history: the sea, the sword, the palm and the dhow – each of which carries a proud part of Qatar’s rich history, and a nod to the future.
