Founder, CEO and Chief Analyst

AMD, Compaq, AltaVista, AT&T, NCR

Patrick Moorhead founded Moor Insights & Strategy to deliver the real-world, experience-based insights and advice he didn’t get from traditional analyst firms during his decades as a technology executive — and this is what makes MI&S unique. More than a dozen years later, he’s a top-ranked tech analyst with more than 100 active CXO-level clients who delivers 1,000-plus hours of advisory per year. Taking a big-picture view grounded in 35 years in high tech, Moorhead also has specific expertise ranging from silicon to infrastructure to enterprise SaaS and everything in-between, and in strategic areas including M&A, roadmaps, market positioning, messaging, and antitrust.

Moorhead has shared his expertise in more than 1,000 broadcast appearances on CNBC, Yahoo Finance, Bloomberg, and other outlets, and he has been quoted many times in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Computerworld, The Information, and CNET. He is often ranked #1 among thousands of technology industry analysts by ARInsights. A longtime Forbes contributor, he has published thousands of articles and research-based analyses, along with thousands of podcast episodes and video interviews. His regular online commentary has brought him 50,000 followers on X and 33,000 on LinkedIn.

Before founding MI&S, Moorhead spent more than 20 years as an executive leading strategy, product management, product marketing, and corporate marketing functions addressing the PC, mobile, graphics, and server ecosystems. He is grounded in reality because he led the real-world planning and execution of products and strategies at NCR, AT&T, Compaq, and AMD — and had to live with the outcomes. Moorhead also served on the boards of the Consumer Electronics Association and the American Electronics Association, and for five years chaired the board of the St. David’s Medical Center in Austin. He is also the co-founder of Six Five Media and Signal65. Besides spending time with his family, reading history, and keeping up with Formula 1, in the past two years he has pursued a new commitment to improving healthspan through better diet, supplements, sleep, exercise, and relationships.
