Hello, music lovers! I've created the latest music-sharing post over at sexy_mood_music. You don't have to join to contribute links because the post will be left open for until the next one goes up. However, you're more than free to join and have a look around at the other stuff offered at the comm, including all manner of graphics. This month's theme is "All About the Benjamins," which is a bit tongue in cheek seeing as how the world seems to be drowning in recession. Think like a baller though, and you might just become one, right? Let's start the positive thinking by sharing any and all songs about getting, making, or spending money. If there's luxury or wealth mentioned in a tune, we'd like to hear it! As always, you may share as many uploads as you please and from as many genres as you can possibly think of! Here's what I uploaded for January's post: Madonna - Material GirlLonely Island (feat. T-Pain) - I'm On a BoatSwizz Beatz - Everyday (Coolin')Rilo Kiley - The MoneymakerLady Gaga - Beautiful, Dirty, Rich

Whether you're laying down for a power nap or about to settle in for a whole night's worth of bedtime, we wanna hear the tunes that send you off to Sleepytown. However, you're more than free to join and have a look around at the other stuff offered at the comm, including all manner of graphics.Since May is the fifth month of the year, I figured it might be neat for everyone to create their Top 5 [Fill in the Blank] Songs. Basically, you're going to do as many mini-mixes as you please with any mini-themes you want. For example, I'm sharing my Top 5 Guilty Pleasure Songs. You can pick your fave 5 songs from your childhood or 5 songs that remind you of your fave fictional character or anything you can imagine! This is pretty much a free for-all as long as you include 5 songs in your little countdowns. Of course, any and all genres can be included, and if you have anecdotes relating to your song selections, we'd love to hear those, too! [Remember to change 'hxxp' to 'http' for each link!]Here's what I uploaded for the May-June post: TOP 4 GUILTY PLEASURE SONGS:5) Carly Simon - Nobody Does It Better -- It's actually a lovely song, but I feel like I'm my 54-year old mom when I listen to it!4) Gayla Peevey - I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas (Hippo the Hero) -- I'll leave it up to you to guess whether or not I've listened to this randomly in the middle of the year when Christmas is nowhere in sight.3) Sheryn Regis - Kailan Kaya -- This song is a guilty pleasure for a few reasons. First, the starting is so cheesy with Sheryn sounding like she's trying out for Ariel in The Little Mermaid. On top of that, I can't even understand what she's saying cuz the song's in Tagalog, a Filipino dialect. I don't have to understand the lyrics to know it's a corny love song though, which is a third reason why it's a guilty pleasure.2) Kermit the Frog - The Rainbow Connection -- Ummm, just look at the song's title and who sings it. Add to that the fact that I get nostalgic for high school when I had to sing this in a choir, and it's pretty clear why it's a guilty pleasure.1) Starland Vocal Band - Afternoon Delight -- Seriously, how embarrassing is it to admit that I have this on my iPod?

However, you're more than free to join and have a look around at the other stuff offered at the comm, including all manner of graphics.Throughout March, we'd like you to share various tunes that you think "fits a certain fandom [either because of the lyrics, mood/tone, instruments used, etc.] although the song hasn't actually been used in the fandom before." Is that creative or what? I know we've all got tons of different shows, movies, and books that we adore and with which we associate different beloved tunes, so please share as many as you can think of. Of course, any and all genres can be included, and if you have anecdotes relating to your song selections, we'd love to hear those, too! [Remember to change 'hxxp' to 'http' for each link!]Here's what I uploaded for March's entry: Ben Lee - Catch My Disease -- I associate this one with Parks and Recreation cuz it's so chipper and quirky just like Leslie Knope and Andy! I feel it really captures the offbeat nature of the show, overall.Death Cab For Cutie - Someday You Will Be Loved -- This song calls to mind the haunting and dark Dexter Morgan, who's in search of someone who will love him even if he's a sociopathic monster.Ke$ha - We R Who We R -- This song just screams Skins to me though I'll admit that I've never watched anything beyond S1 of the original UK version. The characters partied pretty hard, and Tony had that "don't give a fuck" attitude.Kings of Leon - Crawl -- The sexy, driving beat to this one evokes visions of vampires. It would be perfectly suited for the dark and daring characters of Damon Salvatore on Vampire Diaries or Eric Northman on True Blood -- When I hear this tune and think of fandoms, The Social Network now comes to mind. For one thing, the whole movie is about who created Facebook, and the song's glitzy, frenetic beat reminds me of the second half of the film when Mark Zuckerberg begins hanging with Sean Parker and is thrust into the public spotlight.

Hello, music lovers! I've created the latest music-sharing post over at sexy_mood_music. You don't have to join to contribute links because the post will be left open all month till the next one goes up. However, you're more than free to join and have a look around at the other stuff offered at the comm, including all manner of graphics. For February, we challenge you to create acrostic mini-mixes using letters that will spell out some sorta message that you'd see on those candy hearts that are so popular around February 14. For example, my mix is composed of songs that reads "BE MINE," but yours can spell out "I LUV U" or "CALL ME." Of course, if you're feeling feisty and/or just hate the commercialism of the Valentine's Day, you're absolutely free to create something snarky, like "LOSE MY NUMBER" or "LET'S BREAK UP." Of course, any and all genres can be included, and if you have anecdotes relating to your song selections, we'd love to hear those, too! [Remember to change 'hxxp' to 'http' for each link!]Here's what I uploaded for February's entry: Bump 'N Grind - R. Hello, music lovers! I've created the latest music-sharing post over at sexy_mood_music. You don't have to join to contribute links because the post will be left open all month till the next one goes up. However, you're more than free to join and have a look around at the other stuff offered at the comm, including all manner of graphics. For the first music-sharing post of 2011, we'd like to learn more about YOU. duranorak suggested a wonderful theme of introducing ourselves via song, so throughout this month, it's all about selecting songs that provide some insight into your personality. It would be great if you could explain your songs, maybe just by leaving one or two words that link it to your personality or self-identity. Of course, any and all genres can be included, and if you have anecdotes relating to your song selections, we'd love to hear those, too! [Remember to change 'hxxp' to 'http' for each link!]Here's what I uploaded for January's entry: Feist - The Water -- I have a tendency to be melancholic though I try not to show that too much at this comm. It's there though, and it's a bigger part of me than I wish it were.Robin Sparkles - Let's Go To the Mall -- Man, if there's one thing I manage to be when I'm at my happiest, it's silly and ridiculous. I've shared this song so many times in the past, but I can't think of anything that exemplifies my own inanity more than this tune -- I spend far too much of my life sitting around and dreaming of what I want rather than going out and getting it. This now applies to a guy at work that I have a big crush on.Pat Benatar -- I am stubborn as all hell, so I think this song suits that side of me.Queen - Don't Stop Me Now -- Usually, I'm a very inhibited person, but there are just some days where I feel invincible, like I really could not give a damn what anyone else thinks. I just need to be me, loud and proud and mighty geeky -- I'd say this covers the part of my personality that is aggressive and gritty.
