ms_nanowrimo - Profile (original) (raw)

This is a group designed to combine the efforts of the elite writers of Mississippi in achieving a total overall Word Count, of combined works and novels, amounting to 16,757,473+ words throughout the month of November. This will be taking place through the contest known as National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), which entails writing a novela consisting of 50,000 words or more ONLY within the month of November. Here's a link (please create an account if you'll be taking on the NaNoWriMo Challenge): http://www.nanowrimo.org/ . It does not matter how much you write, every little bit counts. This contest is designed for the novice up to the most expert writers to push themselves to their full creative limits in creating a work that may become tomorrow's great masterpiece!

All new members (and supporters) are encouraged to post a brief description of yourself including: your pen name, location within Mississippi, style of writing, preferred genre, and any other info you find important for us to know (I.E. writing accomplishments, writing by hand, etc.)

Ok, here are the rules. I'm not a very mean person, but if someone bluntly violates these rules without holding themselves accountable, they will be removed.

Anyways...here we go!

1. Please be respectful to all members of this community. This means making constructive, appropriately worded comments on other people's writing ideas.

2. Mississippi flaming, offensive debating, and spamming, will NOT be tolerated.

3. Also, avoid using successively incorrect grammar, short-hand, and explicit language within posting. It just helps in losing the respect of other writers (and just plain does not look good).

4. All writing genre's and styles will be tolerated so long as there is a warning label attached when necessary(I.E. successive expletives, sexual content, obscurities, etc.). I will allow anything the writer wishes to write about so long as it is posted as a link with a brief description of the contents listed below. Remember, there is no rule that says you have to post any material. It's entirely optional. Only Word Counts are needed!

5. In open discussion of story ideas, anything goes! Feel free to tell us what you wish to write about.

6. Please, ONLY post your current Word Count once the writing begins (November 1st, 12:01 AM Central to November 30th 11:59:59 PM Central). If everyone tries to put their entire manuscript on here, I cannot guarantee (for one thing) that it won't get stolen and, what's more, the page will become terribly congested.

5. With that in mind, concepts and ideas may be posted BEFORE November. Please post in links if they surpass 1,000 words. Pieces of manuscripts may also be posted for constructive critique and editing AFTER November. Trust me! No one will want to edit the work of someone else DURING November.

7. During NaNoWriMo ABSOLUTELY, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE attempt to edit your work. If you do that, you will never finish. Trust me on this one!

This is about all I've got for now. I'll probably put more rules on here as this group progresses.
