During the past couple of years, the online digital world has changed dramatically and social media is playing a massive and significant role. It is evident that there have been a variety of social media platforms available for consumption and the students are able to connect through technology to assist with their academic development. These social media platforms are available to students when these students were in junior high school. Across the world, the pandemic COVID 19 has triggered in major changes in the human life and behaviour. As we all are aware that, during present times a significant proportion of the world’s population is under some or other form of lockdown, to curtail the spread of COVID 19. One of the outcomes of COVID 19 lockdown is increase in record level of social media consumption to keep all entertained whilst safe indoors leading to unprecedented rise in screen time. The present survey will help to understand how students are consuming social media amid pandemic situation. An attempt is also made to find out the reasons for using social media. The information pertaining to social media consumption was collected through google form from 250 college going students. The finding revealed that the social media consumption was found higher among the younger students. Female students were using social media more as compared to male. The students have their account on social media platforms such as “Whatsapp”, “Instagram”, “Youtube”, “Facebook” and “Snap chat”. To gather information and for entertainment students were using these social media platforms. Students reported that their usage of social media have increased during lockdown period where they were spending more than 5 hours a day. The students had been found engaged to high extent in watching movies, searching cooking recipes, looking at funny videos and memes. Students considered World Health Organization website, Government websites and Government newsletters as most trustworthy for any source of information related to Corona Virus updates. Social media can be a double-edged sword. It has been observed that social media reach has risen drastically during the lockdown period in India. The inherent insecurity and lack of daily structure during the lockdown makes us feel inadequate without the constant feed of several information. It is indeed challenging to find a fine balance between the toxic overuse of technology and healthy and systematic harnessing of data. On a different note, children and adolescents exposed to more online time tend to develop technology and gaming addiction. It is vital to remember that certain unhealthy habits will long outlast the pandemic to cause continued problems in life. Further, social media-related blame and bothering can also lead to stigma, marginalisation, communalism and violence, especially at such times of crisis. Maintaining a conscious and informed distance from social media can help increase the Covid-free time, which is so necessary for mental well-being. Technology can be used for social connectedness rather than isolating in our own digital spaces. Therefore, there is a need to try and practise digital distancing.

In this process education plays a key role. An appropriate and planned education system contributes significantly to the growth and economic development of a country. During the present times, the higher education institutions are under lot of pressure to reform the education system as a whole due to increasing global challenges. The relationship between universities and governments, their main source of funding and their governing authority in most cases, remains an uneasy one and often, does not reflect the realities of an evolving political, social and economic environment. Multiple objectives should not be pursued at the cost of compromising learning and research environments for students, which also require continuous adaptation and improvements. So, the higher education system as a whole is faced with many issues of concern like financing and management, including access, equity, relevance and reorientation of program by laying emphasis on values, ethics and quality of higher education together with the assessment of institutions and their accreditation. These issues are of vital importance for the country, as it is engaged in the use of higher education as a powerful tool to build knowledge based society of the 21st century. Keeping in mind the present scenario, an attempt has been made to study the various dimensions of higher education loan availed by students in Gujarat State.

Different educational institutions follow diverse fee structures. Furthermore, the expenditure on non-fee components of education has been increasing at a much faster rate. This makes the problem of poor accessibility of higher education to a sizable section of the Indian society a more complex issue. In view of this trend, a proper student aid policy needs to be formulated. In this perspective, it is important to enhance the use of educational loan within a suitable framework of inclusiveness, as a non-government source of finance. In lieu this, the present paper examines role of banks in financing higher education in Gujarat.

The reasons underlying brand consumption are many say for e.g. at times it is the good experiences with the brand in the past, people want to portray a certain image, loyalty of shoppers for their beloved brands. Desire of people to fit in with a specific status group let it be at school, workplace or in social circles. There are people who sometimes buy brands because they think and believe that the brands will contribute to greater social acceptance. This holds true especially in case of fashion. The focus of the present study is on understanding how the people are fulfilling their day to day requirement of essential goods during this lockdown period. And while buying and consuming their day to day essential goods, whether the brand dimension is attached to it or not. To find out the impact of COVID 19 lockdown on consumption pattern and brand consumption, a small survey was carried out. Descriptive research design was opted to collect data from 62 individuals selected through convenience sampling. Questionnaire was used as a tool to collect data and was distributed via google forms. The findings revealed that if branded goods are not available people are willing to consume the goods which are not branded irrespective of their income level and family size. INTRODUCTION Brands have been recognized as invaluable assets to firms and a quality product available for consumers to consume in the economy. The economies across the world have reached the crossroads wherein every aspect of our existence is diffused with the ownership of goods and consumption of services. On the other hand, the globalisation has taken the consumption of goods and services to new heights. "Looking out into the world today, it's easy to see why brands are more important now than at any time in the past 100 years. Brands are psychology and science brought together as a promise mark as opposed to a trademark. Products have life cycles. Brands outlive products. Brands convey a uniform quality, credibility and experience. Brands are valuable.
