However, studies about the same from Indian medical schools are limited. The objective of the study was to assess perceived stress. A cross-sectional, questionnaire–based survey was carried out among 1st MBBS students of B J Govt. Medical College, Pune. A 14-item questionnaire: perceived stress scale (PSS) was used to assess the stress perceived by the students. Mean PSS score in the study population (n=150) was 24.91(SD 7.31, that in female students (n=83) was 24.78 (SD 7.61) while the same for male students (n =67) was 25.07 (SD 6.97). Thus in the study, medical students reported a higher level of perceived stress. However, there is no significant difference found between sex nor among hostelers & day scholars groups and neither among the students from rural & urban background for the perceived stress score. The students have shown a higher level of perceived stress by using the PSS-14 sca...

method of examination had many drawbacks. Objectives: To
introduce OSPE as a method of evaluation and to eliminate the possible component of bias. Material and method-The first MBBS hundred students of 2011-2012 batch of B. J. Govt. Medical College Pune were the subjects for the study. OSPE was conducted on Osteology part of Anatomy, where 4 stations were designed. And a separate feedback questionnaire was given to the students
and staff. And the data was analyzed statistically. Results:
90%students suggested that OSPE should be used as assessment tool and 90%students were confident about elimination of bias by the OSPE system.100%faculty suggested that traditional method and OSPE both should be practiced together. Conclusion: OSPE is acceptable to our students and faculty owing to its advantages over traditional practical examination as far as practical examination in Anatomy is concerned.

Background: Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) is an important indicator of target organ damage in chronic arterial
hypertension. An increased risk for life-threatening arrhythmias and sudden death have been observed in hypertensive
patients, associated with either left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) or prolonged QT interval. Present study was conducted to
compare QT dispersion in hypertensive patients with LVH & without LVH. Methods: Forty male subjects affected by
essential hypertension with & without LVH, underwent 12 lead ECG recording for QT dispersion and 2D echocardiography
performed to measure interventricular septal thickness, posterior wall thickness and left ventricular internal diameter &
compared with normal age & sex matched control. Results: There was statistically significant increase in QT dispersion
(p<0.05) in hypertensive subjects with LVH as compared to non-LVH group. Multivariate analysis demonstrated significant
relationship between QT dispersion and systolic, diastolic & mean blood pressure, Left ventricular mass & Left ventricular
mass index. Conclusion: Sympatho-vagal imbalance in hypertensive patients with LVH could contribute to abnormal
ventricular repolarization process leading to prolongation of QT dispersion. Manual measurement of QT dispersion might be
a simple, non-invasive screening procedure to identify the hypertensive at greatest risk of sudden cardiac death.
