On the 22nd December, we'll release 'Scattered Light’, the second album from Tokyo Ambient Collective, an ambient music project established by Tokyo-based international artists; Takahiro Kido, a composer who works as a member of Anoice, RiLF, and Films, Kenji Azuma, a percussionist who plays several kinds of instrument, and Sami Elu, the world’s only player of the pixiechord. This recording session was executed at a Buddhist temple located at the foot of a forest, by the founding members, Takahiro Kido, Kenji Azuma, and Sami Elu, and Yuki Murata, a pianist/composer who is also a member of Anoice, RiLF, and Films. As with their first album, 'Healing for Damages', it also features songs created from improvisation sessions.
For this album, as well as using the GANK Drums, Karimba, Pixiechord, and Synthesizer, which featured on their debut album, the group also enlisted heavily reverb effected electric guitars, a Black Raven, which is a Russian ocarina which supplies double notes, and a Koshi Chime, which is a French chime tuned with chords. The addition of the vibraphone, which appears softly on each track, will allow you to feel as though you are taking a shower of light leaked out through the tree leaves in the forest.
The album, 'Scattered Light’, is a masterpiece of ambient music and also a record of the conversations between sound and sound, filled with a beautiful energy. see less
