A guaranteed Investment contract also known as GIC promises to provide a fixed rate of return at the maturity the issue. You can invest in a GIC monthly through a salary reduction plan or through other options that may be available through The Private Fund Management S.A GIC programs that are offered. These instruments offer a stated investment return through the guarantee of a fixed interest rate. An investment objective under this program is to address preservation of principal and can resemble other standard deposits arrangements. Your investment will earn interest each month that will accrue and be credited to your account every month.
GISs are vulnerable to inflation or other economic impact on interest rates in general because of the fixed rates offered by these investments. You may also change the GIC account to other type of investments that may be available; however, you will encounter a penalty if you decide to do so. In addition, you may not withdraw your investment within the investment time period.
Benefits under GICs are:
- That your principal investment and interest rate return is secured and guaranteed under this type of investment.
- that the interest rates offered under this investment vehicle are guaranteed for the full term of the investment period.
- that your investment term can be flexible as you establish investment maturity period based on your investment requirements. The period may range from180 days to 3 years, however in order to achieve higher returns, a longer maturity period will be required. There are no minimal installments required for GICs.
- For your option, we provided the interest payment frequencies either monthly or annually. However, if you choose the annual interest payment feature, the interest rates that are calculated monthly will only be credited to your account at the end of each year.
