Ginga Tansa 2100-nen: Border Planet (original) (raw)

Synopsis

This work was produced as the ninth special animated piece for the 24-hour television program by Tezuka Production, which took full charge of the original story, screenplay and director. Tezuka Osamu crafts a love story in the time when humans are expanding into space at the end of the 21st century, employing an omnibus form similar to Bradbury's "Martian Chronicle." The story line is similar to "Phoenix: Nostalgia." Leaving the earth after marriage, a woman is left behind in space when her husband suddenly dies of a cosmic disease. These background details were used in "The Phoenix" as well. This time, her friends on the Earth head for space to save the woman who was once everyone's ideal lady. In this special animated piece, Tezuka Osamu emphasizes his basic concepts that "love can save the earth" and "only love can save humans."

well was not a bad journey it just sadly being a movie causes some problems this should of been a series or at the least a ova separated in a couple episodes.

story 7
i honestly liked the story while simple has the making if a epic space journey that many know and love. this has about three different places all interesting. it kind of reminds be a bit of galaxy express were each new place has something interesting and really draws you in to learning details on what is happening. the issue as a movie there is a main issue the gets loosely connected to... the journey making it feel a bit off as a result. as movie often are meant to be more focus getting kind of episodic just makes it feel like it was meant to be a tv series but was cut so they threw it into a movie.

art 7
while the animation is average i would say the art is were it gains a few points.each world has it own stylize look and many details were given to build it and differentiate them.the designs of the characters to the design of the backgrounds really help get drawn in to what is happening.

sound6
the sound is fine i really cant think of anything that was bad but nothing stood out as good it basically does what it needs to and really it did as good as was needed.

characters 5
the characters are fine but little was done to build up the main character. he is your average hero on a mission.since this was also had a kind of episodic adventure while the side characters do enough to help build the world much more care was given to the world so none are great.the with that said at the very least i can say i found none of the characters to be bad or annoying.

overall 6
this in the end is a fun little journey that biggest flaw is as a movie it feels a bit disjointed which sadly hurts the movie a bit.if this was a ova or even better a full series this probably could of felt less award and done much better. the in the end this has enough to entertain and enjoy and is a decent watch it just it is a bit sad as there is a structure if it was used had the potential for it to be so much more.
