This music video is Yoko fanservice at its best, after watching this I can imagine her as a sexy model, a pop-idol and much more. I have never seen so many alluring cosplay outfits in the space of four minutes before. The animation in the music video is very well done, the song is also incredibly catchy. If you've ever wanted to see Yoko as an idol, you definitely need to check this out, GAINAX sure knows how to please their fans.

And if you haven't seen the series, well, you will probably like this anyway.

Before I start, I'd like to tell you that this is neither an OVA or an anime special, but a music video. Since you can't actually review a music video based on certain things, I'm just gonna tell you how this plays.

This is a really good PV. No matter how you look at it. Let's take a look at the animation. Despite it being littered with fan-service and pointless scenes, the artwork is clean, crisp, and looks very great. I admit some angles look pigish and tend to not make sense, they can be ignored. There is some great color in this music video... and it really makes it stand out from all the other TTGL gimmicks that keep being put out. Gainax really put in some effort when making this.

The sound sounds great. The song isn't neccesarily Oricon worthy, but it's more catchy than herpes. It just tends to stick in your head. I would recommend reading some romaji to the song since some of the lyrics can't be understood properly the first few times. I'll admit Yoko makes a very good idol. Her seiyuu has proven before that she could sing, but she brought all her cards this time.

This can easily become the next Hare Hare overnight. I would recommend giving this a shot if you didn't like the original series, and I don't have to tell any TTGL fans to go and see it. I'm currently looking to find a copy of the DVD and you should too.

Gurren Lagann: Yoko Box - Pieces of Sweet Stars is finished. In truth, this is not an actual special of the main anime, but really a music video for the eponymous character here. That said, I found it provides a very interesting look at the character, showcasing all of the potential lives she is able to live. It's interesting to find that in such a short span of four minutes, viewers can connect so deeply with all of the various realities that she may have been placed in and all of them feel natural. The video also has a great introduction and ending, surprisingly, with... all of this being implied to be pondering by (our canon) Yoko as she journeys up a hill, pausing. Indeed, it fits well with the title, as each one represents a brilliant shine given by Yoko living her best life in all of these and even being given a star by one of her parallel selves. However, it should be stated that this music video is filled with ecchi moments including showing of breasts and implied nudity, as well as several revealing and provocative outfits. While these deserve a mention, they are generally harmless as they're not the main focus here and the video is only four minutes long approximately. While not necessary to watch by any means, this is a great look into Yoko's character, which is at least worth listening to for its catchy song. 7/10.
