The characters are so easy to get attached to, including the temporary ones, and the ups are higher than anything you can imagine, and the lows are low enough to make you feel bad for the characters. Each moment and each arc has its brilliance to it, and even though the writing may not be on par with something like the likes of Vagabond, it's the fact that each moment during the read is an absolute ride of... emotions, I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to feel a sense of exhilaration, paired with the perfect amount of despair. Though the plot is basic and the power of friendship is always stronger and whatever yadayada, I think this is where it is portrayed in the greatest way, where rather than just random BS, there's real reasoning and understanding about how everything was able to happen. Of course, using Wukong or Jaecheondaeseong and his real powers and a mix of a fake more realistic power is just the perfect mix, an honest-to-God, amazing read. Thank you Yongje Park for your work. The whole concept of the power system was unique, and obviously, the fights were good—I mean, it’s a tournament story, lol. But I have no clue what happened in the later chapters. I mean that literally; half the time, it seemed like the author was just trying to throw in as much popular folklore, clichés, and whatever else he thought of on the spot into the story. It felt really out of place for me. However, I would say that the ending made up for it, and without giving any spoilers, it really pulled on the heartstrings. All things considered, if... you’re looking for a manhwa to turn your brain off to and just admire the stunning art and amazing fights, I would recommend "God of High School." MC is an obnoxious idiot. There is zero buildup for any of the fights. Where is the drama? Where is the suspense? I don't think I've ever read a more shallow battle story before. If something like Tenjou Tenge (which is very similar in structure) is an average 5/10 then this is negative 10? The interactions between the characters are bizarre and unnatural. Maybe it's just the really bad artwork but none of these characters feel real. The tone is all over the place. MC will be battling for his life one page and... then the next page is nonsense comedy.
