I use a bit different of a rating system than MAL's myself, although it's probably fairly similar. The problem I have with 5 being "average" is if you're the type of person who really enjoys everything you watch, wouldn't that make a typical anime you really enjoy a 5 because it's your "average"? Then something you just like would be a 3 or 4....

Not saying that's the case with you, of course. I'm just guessing you enjoy anime as a whole less than a fair number of people here. xD

Holy smokes. 1240 completed, but no 10s, only 3 9s, and extraordinarily few 8s by comparison. Pretty cynical rater, huh?
