About
I'm Laika. (I mean, that's not my real name or anything, but it's a nickname that some people IRL call me, so...) I'm just your average joe who enjoys (or sometimes doesn't enjoy) Japanese cartoons and comics, my favorite of these being JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and my least-favorite being Pop Team Epic.
Not really sure what gender I'd consider myself. I'm somewhere female-leaning, though.
As far as age goes, I'm an adult. That's about as much as I'm willing to reveal on that front.
My roommate/best-friend/sister is also on MAL. Feel free to check-out her profile! We often watch anime and play games together. General "best-friend" things XD
Although I've watched the Pokémon anime for as long as I can remember I only discovered the games during generation 4 (Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, SoulSilver). Remember when most people outside of Japan thought that Pokémon originated as a cartoon? Ain't that a throwback? My first Pokémon game was Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and my first entry into the mainline games (which would lead to Pokémon becoming my favorite series of all time) was Pearl Version.
Ever since discovering the Touhou Project, I've also been really interested in Japanese folklore/mythology/etc. for example, youkai. It's amazing how many Pokémon I never knew were based on youkai before...
Aside from Japanese works, I also enjoy western (mostly American) TV and movies. My favorite western cartoons include Steven Universe, Phineas & Ferb, Regular Show and Gravity Falls.
I'm also an author, and as you might expect, I enjoy writing novels and stories.
I'm loyal to Nintendo, some might even say "loyal to a fault". But when Nintendo is directly responsible for many of my favorite series (including my all-time favorite) it's hard for me not to be
According to an online personality tester I'm INFP-A although I'd say only about half of the site's description about INFP-As applies to me. Mainly just did the test for fun, I wouldn't take it too seriously
If I could describe my personality in one word I'd say "friendly", which is how I hope I come across on this site. Conveying emotion through written-text has always been pretty hard for me though. If you read any of my comments/messages/etc on this site as having any sort of malicious tone, please know that that wasn't my intent
I tend to obsess over my favorite works, so if you've seen me in the forums doing nothing but talking about JoJo/R.O.D/Touhou or whatever, that's why
I prefer audio-visual entertainment over solely audio or visual stuff
Video-games > TV shows > Movies > Books > music > audio dramas/plays/etc IMO

I thought I might as well gather all the cards that people made for me and put them here! Thank you so much to everyone who made me cards!
First thing's first, I rate based solely on enjoyment, and my enjoyment is based largely on story, characters and humor (where applicable)
Secondly, my rating system doesn't generally apply to specials/OVAs/etc. or one-shots
- 11/10
JOJO's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable - 10/10
Masterpiece.
Loved every single moment from start to finish - 9/10
Excellent.
Basically the same as an 8/10 but better - 8/10
Great.
Usually a plot-driven anime where every episode progresses the plot or a comedy where every single joke landed.
Shows with this score or higher are ones I'd describe as favorites.
I could probably watch/read anything with this rating or higher again within a year and still enjoy it as much as the first time - 7/10
Good.
I'd probably watch it again, even if not for a while.
Everything with this rating or higher are works that I would personally recommend - 6/10
Above-average.
I liked it, but I probably won't ever watch it again.
The good aspects of series with this score or above outweighed the bad aspects - 5/10
Average.
I didn't dislike it, but I could've gone my whole life without having watched/read it and nothing would change.
The bad and good aspects of series with this score were fairly balanced, IMO - 4/10
Below-average.
Well, at-least I was never bored... The bad aspects of series with this score or below outweighed the good aspects.
If I predict a series would earn this score or lower (supposing I theoretically completed it) I drop it on the spot - 3/10
Bad.
They had a redeeming factor, such as an interesting idea, a single good episode or two or a character I liked.
Shows with this score or lower are ones I'd describe as least-favorites.
Nearly every work rated 3/10 or lower is something I dropped - 2/10
Awful.
I was bored throughout the entire runtime. Basically the same as 3/10 but without any redeeming qualities - 1/10
Abominable.
I wanted it to be over after only a few minutes/pages - 0/10
To anyone who read my whole profile, read miscellaneous parts of my profile, glanced over my profile or even just visited my profile: thank you!
