Merra_'s Profile - MyAnimeList.net (original) (raw)
Yo. I'm Merra. Welcome to my

~About Me
- I read more manga than I watch anime. Though I don't think this is weird in the slightest, a lot of people I've met in real life find it so. This is actually because I usually don't have enough time to watch anime episodes, so its easier for me squeeze in moments to read in between tasks, before sleep etc. (plus it takes way less time to read than watch)
- I've also always been more of a reader, so it's generally in my nature to read the source material instead of the finished work.
Tbh it depends.
- All important info about myself has mysteriously vanished from my memory.
My motto: A great soundtrack = A great show!
I'm a sucker for soundtracks. When I'm watching anime, I'm usually looking at how all its parts go hand in hand (the pacing, music playing at the time, character development etc). And hunting for songs to add to my anime OST playlist on Spotify. If a show has a mediocre plot, I might still give it a high score if its soundtrack is breathtaking.
Sadly this doesn't always happen, sometimes any potential greatness the soundtrack could have had is lost on a show's lack of plot or character development, and an inability to make you connect with the characters, so much so that the music makes no difference.

The notes on my lists may contain spoilers.
My notes can be anything from mini-reviews to random thoughts on what I've read so far. I usually include a disclaimer incase there are any spoilers to be found in any of the notes. Just thought I should give a heads-up on my profile too. Apologies that i can't obscure them in any way (-_-;).
My manga and anime ratings explained!
╰☆☆ ℳ𝓎 𝓂𝒶𝓃𝑔𝒶 𝓇𝒶𝓉𝒾𝓃𝑔𝓈 𝑒𝓍𝓅𝓁𝒶𝒾𝓃𝑒𝒹 ☆☆╮
10: A probable masterpiece. Something I had an amazing time reading, and believe deserves all the love it can get. In some cases I just look past any of its faults and give it a 10 if I enjoyed it that much. I've probably only done this once or twice, but at times I give short stories a 10 too, as they're mostly too short to find any issue.
9: Really good. Almost perfect in fact. Probably really close to being a favorite
8: Had one or two things standing in the way of my enjoyment, for example poor art, underdeveloped characters, etc.
7: Just there actually. This is my average score.
6: Bad, but readable. Also my default score for anything with ecchi or gore as the main plot
5,4,3: Descending levels of bad. Atrocious in their own way
2: Why do you exist?
Anime ratings
Most times if I've already read the manga I rate it based on how good of an adaptation I think it is, and not how good the anime itself is.
Ratings usually mean the same as manga. Though I'm much less lenient with anime ratings and 8/10 is the average score here

I don't understand a word of Japanese but I LOVE this song. Played it a lot after watching the anime (it was at the top of my Spotify stats for months). I basically stopped associating it with the show, and listened to it an unhealthy amount of times. It has an atmospheric, chill feeling (not the best description I've ever made). Can't place the genre though...
It also has a music video with real humans in it
Shoukei to Shikabane no Michi - Linked Horizon//name of love - cinema staff (Atttack on Titan 5th OP & ED. From Season 3 Part 2)
Best AOT opening in my opinion. It portrays the feeling and plot of AOT more than any of the other openings, and brings all the previous arcs together through the lyrics. Has one of my favorite lines from an anime OP: "What is it that awaits us beyond these walls?" which is quite literally the entire plot of AOT. Nuff said. Full song here btw
First song I ever saved. Has a special spot in my h.
1. 22194 (Norman's theme) ~ Takahiro Obata (The Promised Neverland).
2. If I Am With You;Prepare Yourself ~ Yoshimasa Terui (Jujutsu Kaisen)
3. Your Battle Is My Battle ~ Chica, Hiroaki Tsutsumi (Jujutsu Kaisen). What I actually like is the bliss that takes place between 3:05 and 3:40.
4. Quite literally EVERYTHING from AOT. Hiroyuki Sawano is just that guy. If I had to make myself choose one, it would be E.M.A. Its usage in episode 13 of Attack On Titan is something I believe everybody should watch at least once in their lives. Other favorites from the series include: Eren the ; T-KT; 2Volt; (and of course) You See BIGGIRL
