Obscurities - Part 04: No Rules (original) (raw)

Chargeman Ken!

TV, 1974, 65 epsMe:- Author:4

This one's kind of amazing. It's repetitive schlock, but boy is it excitingly stupid every episode. You'll never quite know what to expect, just that it'll probably be hilarious.

Mardock Scramble: The First Compression

Movie, 2010, 1 epMe:- Author:7

This is a good cyberpunk movie trilogy. There's murder. There's Gunkata. There's a glowing mouse that can transform into a weapon. There's a talking cyborg dolphin. There's a villain named Welldone the Pussyhand, and the pussy hand thing is literal. Oh, and warning, rape and abuse is a central topic.

Omae Umasou da na

Movie, 2010, 1 epMe:- Author:8

Super cute!

Xiao Qian

Movie, 1997, 1 epMe:- Author:5

Pretty good with some nice animation. I like the art style, and I like the villain's musical number. I'd actually suggest watching the live-action A Chinese Ghost Story movie trilogy though, they're wildly entertaining.

California Crisis: Tsuigeki no Juuka

OVA, 1986, 1 epMe:- Author:4

This sure has a unique look. [ A E S T H E T I C ] It's also features some real California locations like Annie's in Venice, Canter's in LA, and the Nazi club in Holly...wait, nix that last one.

Sakigake!! Cromartie Koukou

Variable Geo

These girls gotta fight, because this is based on a fighting game. Which also means they have all kinds of different abilities. It's good fun.

Minky Momo in Yume ni Kakeru Hashi

OVA, 1993, 1 epMe:- Author:6

A cute, feel-good short film with a nice art style.

Kakugo no Susume

OVA, 1996, 2 epsMe:- Author:6

Alright, look. I'm here to tell you that Apocalypse Zero is actually pretty good. It's dumb as hell, it's crass, it's edgy; it's got more gross boobs, pubes, and dicks than you might expect, but even so it's pretty good. Somebody should make more Apocalypse Zero and go even further with it.

Call Me Tonight

Get horny, become monster. That's how it works.

Birth

OVA, 1984, 1 epMe:- Author:5

Ibara no Ou

Movie, 2009, 1 epMe:- Author:7

Chika Gentou Gekiga: Shoujo Tsubaki

Movie, 1992, 1 epMe:- Author:7

This anime is gross. It's got rape. It's abusive. It's disturbing. It's a lot, but it's also good. It's a fascinating film with some wild animation sequences.

Jikuu Tenshou Nazca

TV, 1998, 12 epsMe:- Author:4

This is the anime that's featured for a brief moment in the intro to Malcom in the Middle. A kendo tournament unlocks the repressed memories of reincarnated Incan warriors. Cue the feathered headdresses and pan flute music.

Batman: Gotham Knight

OVA, 2008, 6 epsMe:- Author:7

I think I like liquid-y shadow Batman by the Tekkon Kinkreet director the best.

Boogiepop wa Warawanai

TV, 2000, 12 epsMe:- Author:8

I hope you like hazy green tinted visuals and non-linear storytelling. I know I sure do! The 2019 follow-up series is pretty good too.

Bus Gamer

TV, 2008, 3 epsMe:- Author:7

Legend of Lemnear: Kyokuguro no Tsubasa Valkisas

OVA, 1989, 1 epMe:- Author:5

A decent Action Fantasy romp from the 80s. Ya like monsters? Dragons? Explosions? Gaping chest wounds? Bikini armor? Lightning effects? Then get in here.

Gosenzo-sama Banbanzai!

OVA, 1989, 6 epsMe:- Author:4

I don't think this is a good show, but it's got some great stylistic elements and direction choices. I think the final 6 minutes of the first episode are fantastic, and I wish there was more of that.

Pui Pui Molcar

These bears, man. There are things in here that'll never leave my mind for the rest of my life. This show is very cute, and very horny, and very weird.

Shaba-daa...shaba-daba-daabaa.

Appleseed

OVA, 1988, 1 epMe:- Author:5

This one actually spawned a pretty big franchise, though none of it seems to have received that much attention. Watching the CGI evolve with each installment is kinda fun.

Eiken: Eikenbu yori Ai wo Komete

OVA, 2003, 2 epsMe:- Author:7

Comedically Large Tits: The Anime. That's the joke. It goes so far with that joke though, and is so centered around it, that it's pretty hilarious. The jiggle physics are ridiculous. The girls also compete in a race down a yogurt slide. Oh and later a banana race down the chocolate chute. Jesus Christ.

Koroshiya 1 The Animation: Episode 0

OVA, 2002, 1 epMe:- Author:6

You know, there's a live-action Ichi the Killer movie. It's sure something. You should watch that. This anime isn't as good as that, but hey, it's here and it's only 45 minutes, and it's got some wacky music and cry-fighting.

Bobby ni Kubittake

There are some really cool art styles in here. Some markers, some pencils, some...what looks like Xeroxed cutouts. There are several cuts of real smooth animation too.

Colorful

The male gaze. This anime is full of creeps who be creepin'. Such a horny series, but like, this shit is kinda hilarious. The frantic editing and dumb faces are great.

Twinkle Nora Rock Me!

OVA, 1985, 1 epMe:- Author:3

Is the framerate of this production low enough that it no longer counts as animation? You decide.

Hametsu no Mars

OVA, 2005, 1 epMe:- Author:2

If you're seeking out the worst anime available, you've probably already heard of this one, so the inclusion here is pretty perfunctory. It's here because it has to be here. It's more boring and unfulfilling than it's bad. It'll leave you wondering why it even exist.

Tenkuu Danzai Skelter+Heaven

OVA, 2004, 1 epMe:- Author:2

If you're seeking out the worst anime available, you've probably already heard of this one, so the inclusion here is pretty perfunctory. It's here because it has to be here. It's more boring and unfulfilling than it's bad. It'll leave you wondering why it even exist.

Forest Fairy Five

Sometimes you watch something thinking it's gotta be some clever anti-humor, and there are little hints to where it seems like the creators are in on the joke and getting ready to blow the doors off...but then it never happens, and you realize that it's just a bad show.

Super Child

Movie, 1994, 1 epMe:- Author:2

You're down here because you hate yourself and have too much time on your hands.
