Ellesville: Kat/Layla "Heavy Stare" (original) (raw)

Title: Heavy Stare
Fandom: ellesville_rp universe
Character(s): Kat/Layla
Rating: PG
Summary: Layla never knew why Kat even bothered showing up to church every Sunday. It seemed pretty silly, considering that Kat wasn't a religious person. Layla didn't know that Kat wasn't just there for the sermon...
Warnings: Very slight girl/girl, but only if you look for it. XD It's totally there, but I'm just saying. It's very faint at the moment.
Author's note: Written for Jubes because Kat and Layla are awesome. It was rushed, but still a cute idea that I needed to belt out before it ate my brain.

It wasn't funny, the way she was always deliberately late for church. Sometimes, Layla wondered why Kat even bothered showing up. Kat wasn't a religious person by any means, and she absolutely hated morning mass. And yet, like clockwork, Kat would stumble in during prayer, choke out an apology, and then slump into a pew with her feet propped up against the seat in front of her.

Today was no different, and as Kat drifted in on her cigarette smoke cloud, Layla found herself smiling a little behind her fingertips. Her mother sneered and her father rolled his eyes, and all the disgruntled church-goers shot her irritated glares.

And what did Kat do?

She glowed. She devoured the attention with her wine-colored lips and smokey eyes, and Layla couldn't shift her gaze for the life of her. And when their eyes locked across that expanse of cobblestone floors and withered old faithfuls, Layla felt something in her heart expand even a fraction more.

Layla really should have been listening to the sermon. It must have been powerful, because her mother had tears in her eyes and her father was nodding his head, and the entire room was alight with the soft cry of "amen!" as the pastor spoke.

But despite all of that, she couldn't look away from Kat, and Kat couldn't look away from her. A very guilty spike of pleasure shot across her spine, almost alarming her at how much she had come to enjoy indulging in these heavy stares across a sea of people. It was the rebelliousness of it all that intrigued her, the very fact that should someone connect their glances, they would piece together an entire book of terrible sins that Layla had committed.

And when Kat nodded her head ever-so-slightly towards the door, the rebellious little demon chipped away once more at the locks on Layla's heart, and she quietly excused herself from her parents.

"Ladies' room." She whispered, trying to calm her mother's suspicious stare.

Her legs continued to shake until she was finally out of the church. The adrenaline, the sheer electricity she felt, knowing that she was disobeying her parents... the thrill of being rebellious and being bad for once...

That was the reason she climbed into the passenger's seat of Kat's dirty black cadillac.

...That... and perhaps it was so that she could bathe in that heavy stare for a little bit longer.
