This study is aimed to Green-synthesize and characterize Al NPs from Clove (Syzygium aromaticumL.... more This study is aimed to Green-synthesize and characterize Al NPs from Clove (Syzygium aromaticumL.) buds plant extract and to investigate their effect on isolated and characterized Salmonella enterica growth. S. aromaticum buds aqueous extract was prepared from local market clove, then mixed with Aluminum nitrate Al(NO3)3. 9 H2O, 99.9% in ¼ ratio for green-synthesizing of Al NPs. Color change was a primary confirmation of Al NPs biosynthesis. The biosynthesized nanoparticles were identified and characterized by AFM, SEM, EDX and UV–Visible spectrophotometer. AFM data recorded 122nm particles size and the surface roughness RMs) of the pure S. aromaticum buds aqueous extract recorded 17.5nm particles size, while the results of Al NPs in the tested sample recorded 21nm particles size with surface roughness RMs about 2.35nm. Levan producing bacteria was isolated from rhizosphere soil. The molecular identification of this... more Levan producing bacteria was isolated from rhizosphere soil. The molecular identification of this isolate was conducted using 16S rRNA, which resulted in a sequenced region of 1298 base pairs. The sequence alignment in the gene bank indicated that this isolate has a high percentage of similarity (99%) to the retrieved consensus sequence of Brachybacterium phenoliresistens strain phenol-A. The produced levan was characterized using TLC, FTIR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy techniques. The effects of nutritional and physical factors on this isolate’s levan production were investigated. The results demonstrated that the optimal sources for carbon and casein during levan production were sucrose and casein, yielding rachybacterium phenoliresistens hizosphere soil utritional factors hysical factors 7.88 g/land 8.12 g/l of levan, respectively. The present investigation, was designed in order to isolate bacteria from rhizosphere soil of Cow... more The present investigation, was designed in order to isolate bacteria from rhizosphere soil of Cowpea farm in Iraq which is capable of levan production. The selected levan producing bacterium was identified as Pseudomonas brassicacearum based on the phenotypic identification by Bergey’s Manual of Systematic Bacteriology and confirmed with the 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Acid hydrolyzed levan sample was subjected to TLC technique which revealed that, levan is composed of only one sugar which is fructose. Rf values of levan produced by P. brassicacearum was 0.42 which is identical or close to Rf values of fructose of 0.42. The effect of some factors on levan production by P. brassicacearum was investigated. The results showed that the best carbon source for levan production was sucrose 7.77 g/l, and casein was the best nitrogen source for levan production which gave 8.56 g/l, followed by ammonium sulfate and corn steep liquor which they gave 8.52, 8.09 g/l respectively. الكايتوسان الذي يمكن الحصول عليه بعد ازالة مجاميع الاستيل من الكايتين، هو سكر متعدد يتشكل اساسا ... more الكايتوسان الذي يمكن الحصول عليه بعد ازالة مجاميع الاستيل من الكايتين، هو سكر متعدد يتشكل اساسا من وحدات متعددة من الدي كلوكوز امين. هو بوليمر حيوي متعدد الاستعمالات واظهر خصائص بايولوجية مختلفة فريدة من نوعها ولذلك له تطبيقات واسعة في الغذاء والطب الحيوي والصناعات الكيميائية. هدفت هذه الدراسة الى تحديد الظروف المثلى لأنتاج الكايتوسان من الفطر Aspergillus oryzae SU-B2 اظهرت النتائج أن أفضل تلك الظروف تتمثل بأستخدام سكر الكلوكوز بتركيز 2% كمصدر للكربون وكلا من كبريتات الامونيوم بتركيز %0. 5 ومستخلص الخميرة بتركز 0. 1% والببتون بتركيز1% كمصدر للنتروجين والرقم الهيدروجيني 5.5 ودرجة الحرارة 30م ومدة 120ساعة وحجم اللقاح 15 مل محتويا على 710x1 بوغ/ مل وبسرعة تهوية 150دورة/ دقيقة حيث بلغت انتاجية الكايتوسان 10200 ملغم/ لتر وبمعدل زيادة بلغت207.2 %.

الكراويا من النباتات الطبية المهمة والتي تحتوي على مجموعة من نواتج الايض الثانوي ذات الفعالية ال... more الكراويا من النباتات الطبية المهمة والتي تحتوي على مجموعة من نواتج الايض الثانوي ذات الفعالية الحيوية الواسعة. استخلصت بذور النبات الجافة باستخدام اربع مذيبات منفصلة هي: الميثانول 70%, الايثانول70%, الهكسان70% والماء بالاستخلاص المستمر باستخدام جهاز السكسليت Soxhlet لثلاث مذيبات. تم الكشف الكيميائي للمكونات الفعالة في المستخلصات الخام. وقد استخلصت الفلافونويدات من بذور نبات الكراويا باستخدام الـ Reflex وتعريضها الى صفيحة TLC. استخلص الجزء غير السكري aglycon بالكلوروفورم. تم الكشف عن الفلافونويدات للمستخلص باستخدام تقنية HPLC. نتائج هذه الدراسة بينت ان كل المستخلصات تختلف مكوناتها عن الاخرى وان النبات غني بالفلافونويدات وبالأخص الروتين والكوارستين والكامفيرول واليوتيولين وكميات قليلة من الكومارين. الفلافونويدات الكلية لكل غرام من مسحوق بذور الكراويا الجافة تساوي0.78 ملغم.

Escherichia coli were isolated from vaginal and cervical samples during vaginal examinat... more Escherichia coli were isolated from vaginal and cervical samples during vaginal examination. Fifteen semen samples have been gathered through masturbation after three days of sexual abstinence. The Cell-Free Supernatant (CFS) of Escherichia has been collected by removing the cells from overnight broth cultures and filtered. The effect of (CFS) of Escherichia coli on spermatozoa motility was determined by using Earl’s balanced solution to prepare1:2 to 1:16 dilutions of CSF. Results conducted there was a significant difference in the count number of motile spermatozoa in 15 seminal fluid samples after being treated with CSF at the dilutions1:2 (p≤0.05) ,1:4 (p≤0.05) and 1:8(p≤0.05). The experiment showed a successive significant increase in the count number of motile sperms compatible with the lowering concentration of CSF until the count number of motile sperms reached the highest in the fourth dilution 1:16 ( P≥0.05) . Levan is an exopolysaccharide produced by various microorganisms and has a variety of application... more Levan is an exopolysaccharide produced by various microorganisms and has a variety of applications. In this research, the aim was to demonstrate the biological activity of levan which produced from B. phenoliresistens KX139300. These were done via study the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer and antileishmanial activities in vitro. The antioxidant levan was shown 80.9% activity at 1250 µg/mL concentration. The efficient anti-inflammatory activity of 88% protein inhibition was noticed with levan concentration at 35 µg/mL. The cytotoxic activity of levan at 2500 µg/mL concentration showed a maximum cytotoxic effect on L20B cell line and promastigotes of Leishmani tropica. Levan has dosedependent anticancer and antileishmanial activities. An addition to the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anticancer potential activities of levan, it can be concluded that levan produced from B. phenoliresistens can efficiently be applied as an antileishmanial agent.

This work was evaluated the antioxidant, antibacterial and cytotoxic activity of Costus speciosus... more This work was evaluated the antioxidant, antibacterial and cytotoxic activity of Costus speciosus rhizomes methanol extract. The FLC analysis showed the presence of five compounds in the methanol extract of C. speciosus rhizomes. These compounds were Quercetin (5.2mg/ml), Rutin (6.02mg/ml), Luteolin, (18.3mg/ml), Kaempherol, (11.34mg/ml) and Coumarin (1.41mg/ml). The maximum antioxidant activity of the extract was at concentration 1000 μg/ml with free radical scavenging activity approximately 67.5%. It was less than standard ascorbic acid 85.5% and Gallic acid 90% with significant difference (p≤0.05), with no significant difference in comparison with standard TBA 68.5%. The IC50 of extract was 3093μg/ml, while the IC50 of ascorbic acid, Gallic acid and TBA were (277.2, 364.5 and 601.3 μg/ml) respectively. The extract revealed influential growth inhibition for all bacteria used in this experiment. The extract was moderately effective at concentration 400 μg/ml of extract with inhibitory activity 50.7 % on MCF-7 cell line and IC50 139.1 μg/ml.

The aim of this study is to determine the antileishmanial, antibacterial and cytotoxic activity of phenolic compounds in C.demersummethanol extractinvitro. This study included the useof methanol extract of plant C.demersumwith the concentrations (25, 50, 100, 200, 400, and 800) μg/ml to reveal its effect on the vitality as an anti-leishmanial, anticancer and as an antibacterial. The result showed the maximum inhibition activity of the extract was at a concentration 800 μg/ml which was effective as anti-leishmanial for Leishmania donovani more than Leishmaniatropica by using MTT assay.The study showed that the extract revealed an influential growth inhibition of E. coliO 157(22 mm), andBacillus cereus (17 mm). In addition, the extract was highlyeffective at concentration 800 μg/ml of extract with inhibitory activity 70.6 % on L20B cell line.

Caraway (Carum carvi L.) is an important medicinal plant that contains a range of bioactive compo... more Caraway (Carum carvi L.) is an important medicinal plant that contains a range of bioactive compounds. The extraction process was carried out using four separate solvents: 70% methanol, 70% ethanol, 70% hexane, and water by continuous extraction using the Soxhlet device, has been chemical detection of effective ingredients in crude extracts. The volatile oils were also extracted by the aqueous distillation method using the Clevenger device and the chemical compounds found there were detected using GC-Mass technique. The study has been effect of active Components for the crude extracts an d oil extracted for the seeds of the Caraway plant on the growth of the L20B,SR cancerous cellular lines out of the living body (in vitro) using two concentrations (12.5, 25)µg/ml within a 72-hour exposure period. The results showed a incorporeally difference and a probability level of P < 0.05 for some crud extracts. Where the highest rate of inhibition on the cancerous cell line L20B at the concentration of 12.5 μg/ml for ethanol extract of 29.7%, as for the SR cancerous cell line, it was the highest inhibition for extract Hot water at low concentration of 73.28%. The extracted oil also had an effect on the growth of the cancer cell lines under study.
