Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh during the period 2012-19. The analytical tools comprised of simple descriptive statistics and fitting exponential trend equations. We found temporal variations in shares of different species to total district-wise livestock population. While population of cattle declined in Madhya Pradesh, the same registered a minor increase in Chhattisgarh. The reverse situation was observed in case of buffaloes. Dynamics of changes in small ruminant population pointed towards the increasing importance of goats as compared to sheep. Although, cattle is the livestock species on which the rural population mostly depend for their livelihood in both the states, economic dependence on sheep and pig is more in Chhattisgarh than Madhya Pradesh. Some policy suggestions have been given based on the findings of the study on leveraging the opportunities offered ...

In this context, a study has been conducted in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh state, India to know the socio-economic and communicational status of Tasar silkworm rearers. The methodology of the study is to seek the answers to the research question, a descriptive research design and proportionate random sampling method were used. Information pertaining to the current investigation was collected from 214 farmers in 4 blocks and ten villages through formal discussion using an interview schedule and appropriate statistical measures like frequency, and percentage were applied to analyze the data. The main finding of the study is that the main occupation of the respondent farmers was sericulture. In respect of land holding, a massive group of farmers holds less than one acre and none of the farmers own lar...

In other words, dairy provides employment throughout the year. Dairy farming can also be taken as entrepreneurial activity on commercial basis as a main occupation around peri-urban centres, wherein the demand for milk is high. Keeping this in view the present study was conducted to study the Entrepreneurship among Commercial Dairy Farmers in four districts of Maharashtra. A total of 240 respondents comprising 161 small, 56 medium and 23 large dairy farmers were selected by proportionate random sampling technique. The results revealed that majority of the dairy farmers possessed medium entrepreneurial behaviour. The moderate level of traits of entrepreneurial behaviour was possessed by the respondents. Feed back usage, manageability, knowledgeability attributes of entrepreneurial behaviour were found as most...

The samples were analysed for metabolites (albumin, total serum protein, direct bilirubin, total bilirubin, cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, urea, uric acid, triglyceride, creatinine) and minerals (calcium, phosphorus) to evaluate significant difference within and between populations. Confidence limit of each biochemical indices showed a close range as compared to their actual range observed under varied geographic areas. All the metabolites and minerals showed significant variations in their levels within and between donkey populations which could possibly be due to the differences in the nutritional status of donkeys, their managemental aspects and biochemical metabolism. In agro-climatic zone 1 (Spiti and Leh areas), having low vegetation cover with poor nutritious grasses for a limited period, levels of most of the biochemical profiles in donkey populations belonging to these areas were significantly lower than those in other zones (VI, IX, XII, XIV). This study indicated that normal biochemical values of different indices for a particular population should not be used as such for disease prognosis, diagnosis and therapeutic monitoring of other donkey population belonging to other agro-climatic zone having different nutritional and managemental practices.

The disease has been eradicated from many countries by statutory testing, elimination of infected animals and import restrictions. However, it is still endemic in parts of Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Central and South America. In India, major glanders outbreaks were reported from different parts of the country between 1976 and 1982. Later, sporadic cases of the disease were reported in 1988, 1990 and 1998. The country remained free of glanders for about eight years until the recent outbreaks occurred in eight States from 2006 to 2007. Recurrent episodes have occurred in Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, whereas fresh outbreaks occurred in Chhattisgarh from 2009 to 2010. A total of 164 equines were declared positive; a majority of the positive cases (n=77) were from Uttar Pradesh, followed by Maharashtra (n=23), Uttarakhand (n=21) and...

Indian is producing sufficiently enough to feed its great population. After attainment achievable production, India is progressing towards sustainable cultivation. Being part of sustainable cultivation, organic farming is proving to be the farming of the coming century. Farmers practices numerous activities under organic production which remains known only to them. The present study was conducted in the Jabalpur district of Jabalpur division with maximum cultivable area under agricultural cultivation in 2021-22 to identify and document the different organic farming practices followed by farmers in wheat crop. Among different blocks of the district 120 farmers practicing organic farming under Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana were selected using ex-post facto design and three stage multi sampling and interviewed through structured interview schedule and open-ended responses were collec...
